@carlbildt Just one sign of many to come of the Palantir Manifesto gradually growing into US foreign policy, fusing together government and frontier private tech in an iron fist of hard power. Europe is running out of time and needs drastic measures to unbuckle itself before it’s too late.
Mark Gubrud, the man who coined the term AGI in 1997, says it’s already here. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, says it’s already here. And, rumours go that OpenAI has just renamed its product division to “AGI Deployment”. Good morning, (brave new) world!
The easiest way to secure the strip is to stop the war, which Trump can do in a day (like he said he’d do with the Ukraine war) without any aid, because he is the only thing that keeps it going. Trying to secure the strip by aiding the aggressor will only prolong the war (which, if you really think about it, would not be in Trump’s interest if GOP should have any chance of winning the midterms).
@GreenManReports I agree completely - censoring any news outlet, however malign, contradicts the basic liberal principle of free speech, which is a foundational Western value. That said: for your metal health’s sake, don’t watch that stuff, mate. It’s pure poison.
Allies do NOT start wars on their own initiative.
Allies do NOT act without consultation.
Allies do NOT renege on their commitments.
Allies do NOT make pacts with enemies.
Allies do NOT threaten one another with hostile territorial expansion.
Allies do NOT engage in political subversion against one another.
Allies do NOT wage trade wars against one another.
Allies do NOT seek to destroy their partners’ political structures.
With best regards from Europe. 🇪🇺
Take note of this, and we will be best friends again.
@carlbildt@anders_aslund Makes you wonder whether pleasing Putin was the primary objective when starting this war, because so far it seems like nobody else is to gain anything from it. (Apart from the US weapon industry, of course.)
Orban scared of fake threats and put on a whole show for the cameras
A pro-government Hungarian portal recently published a fake video in which Grigory Omelchenko, a former Ukrainian politician, allegedly threatens Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
In response, Orban recorded a video where he calls his children and states that the threats should be taken seriously. Such an acting performance almost brings tears to your eyes (not really).
Cybersecurity expert Ferenc Fresh confirmed that the threat video is a fake. The deepfake first appeared on the YouTube channel Pryami TV and was later spread by Russian propaganda media.
In the video, Omelchenko allegedly threatens Orban, saying he will become an accomplice to war crimes if he doesn't change his anti-Ukrainian stance.
The situation has also caught the attention of Hungarian journalists, who warn of potential Russian interference in Hungary's 2026 parliamentary elections to support Orban.
“A wife should always obey her husband.”
31% of Gen Z men agree with this statement according to a recent Ipsos survey. The figure has spawned media outrage across Europe, with gender study experts lamenting the increasingly conservative male attitudes at European university campuses and throwing air punches at the bad influence of Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan.
In its 7+ minute story on this, DW entirely failed to mention the distribution of responses by country (second chart), which I believe makes it abundantly clear that this is not so much a generational, as it is a cultural issue. If anyone still thinks the figures are alarming even for the European countries in the list, may I remind you that 15% of the population in Sweden were born outside of the EU.
