@KarlTurnerMP@RightToLifeUK If suicide on the nhs comes in under Labour I for one will never vote Labour again for the rest of my life having voted for them for the last 40 years . Offensive to do this when palliative care so weak across the UK
It is infuriating. Even more so when you realise this is a government bill behind the scenes, and it exists because they don’t want to pay for people to have quality palliative care.
Kim Leadbeater was the face of this dangerous bill because Labour knew they’d win no votes with this, when their party is already in a wreck.

@PolitlcsUK I must clarify this is NOT a Labour Bill. There are plenty in the party, like me, that do not support it and find it dangerously flawed and unsafe.
What dismal news that the Assisted Suicide bill is coming back. They are hoping to use the Parliamentary override to force it through without any of the improvements and safeguards offered in the Lords last time including by the Bill’s advocates like Lord Falconer. We’re going to be offered the same bill that left the Commons (left with lots of ‘oh the Lords will clean up that glaring problem, don’t worry just pass it’) on a take-it-or-leave-it, unamendable basis. Even if you accept the case for assisted dying this Bill is terrible, far too expansive and full of holes to be filled in after it’s in statute… but the advocates know they’ll never have a such a ‘progressive’ Parliament for years, so it’s now or never. So they’re trying to push through a dangerous bill that they admitted needed significant improvement, because it’s their last chance. They must be stopped.
A huge factor in the collapse of our collective mental health is the decline in reading for pleasure. Reading lessens loneliness, builds community, sharpens the intellect. It brings joy. You will be shocked at how much better you feel if you begin to read regularly.
@zatzi@RightToLifeUK this is a very good question. Having voted labour for the last 40 years if this comes in under their watch I for one will never vote for them again. Offensive to do this especially as palliative care so weak across UK
This is devastating news.
My thoughts tonight are with the vulnerable people who will hear this and feel less safe, less valued and more alone because of it.
The true measure of a society is how it treats those who depend on others. We should be building a culture of care, not one that normalises helping people to die.
They deserve better.

No. No. No. This is a bad Bill with nowhere near enough safeguards within it. Improve palliative care instead of making vulnerable people feel that death is their only option.
Assisted dying returns to parliament as MP urges peers to 'finish the job' https://t.co/a8N0nok2ls
It beggars belief that we’re back here again despite all the evidence. If we care about vulnerable people and if we care about being evidence led, we will reject this outright at 2nd reading, put an end to this nonsense and fix palliative care instead.

BREAKING: The assisted suicide/euthanasia industry is about to announce that they are bringing back their Bill to Parliament.
We MUST keep fighting. This Bill is an unprecedented danger to the elderly, disabled, and other vulnerable groups.
If Labour allow this wicked amoral proposition to proceed I am afraid they will deserve every element of defeat that will ensue . Speaking as a life long Labour voter.
This terrible bill will tear the Labour Party apart. They have one chance to reset with a new leader, but instead they’ve chosen to be divided by this Bill again. Madness.
