"Tempting as it may be to avoid explicit theorizing, the fact remains that contestable choices are embedded in even the most 'obvious' and innocent-looking of 'common sense' interpretations in archaeology and socio-economic history." - J.D. Schloen, House of the Father, p. 8.

Just in time for Halloween. Actually, this is a lecture video from a couple of years ago. I've just added a bit of spooky music at the beginning.
@gavinortlund Most underrated theologian: Zwingli. Everyone despises him but no one has bothered to read him. He was a brilliant thinker and linguist. Had he not died so young, he would have become no less important for Reformed theology than Calvin.
@InspiringPhilos What sort of archaeological evidence is she expecting to find? A house, a wine press, or a bracelet? Even if some such items had been preserved, how would we know that Jesus had left them? Jesus left us his apostles and early disciples. Their existence needs to be explained.
@BartEhrman First, Adam was created in a way that was unique from other humans. Second, there are texts that talk about life residing not in the breath but the blood. Third, there is no reason to think that the ancients regarded the unborn as non-living (cf., e.g., Mt 1:20; Lk 1:15, 44).
@maklelan Dan, do you get paid by the University of Birmingham (a public university) to pontificate about what the Bible says or doesn't say? If so, I wonder if the public would appreciate having their tax money being used to support your "ministry."
Video discusses: Aryan migration (again); Zarathustra (very brief bio); Primary sources for the study of Zoroastrianism; Priests and early rituals; Important ideas and practices: sacrifice, haoma, lying, being in debt, lepers, burial practice, good and bad animals
