@CanyonMimbs The word "Tauhid" doesn't appear once in the Quran.
Think about how many people have built their entire faith on a word that isn't even in the Quran.
@ModernBoethius@SteveSkojec@grok In my experience, Claude is also quick to judgement. The slightest amount of push back and it’ll revise everything it just claimed (even if the push back is simply to think harder).
People take AI way too seriously.
Big update: LDS apologist Luke Hanson has agreed to take Hayden Carroll's place in the debate on the Book of Mormon with @emuse1955. The new proposition is: "It is more likely that the Book of Mormon was inspired by demons than by God."
New date is June 9 at 7pm Central.
Yes, but:
(1) not under the New Covenant/after marriage was elevated to the dignity of a sacrament
(2) polyandry is always wrong, it cant be permitted by dispensation. and it was even worse to teach that polygamy/polyandry would be practiced in the next life. that raises it up to an *ideal.* the true biblical teaching is that the elect will be as the angels in Heaven.
(3) God *tolerated* it for a special purpose (raising up seed), but it was against the first intention of nature. Meanwhile, Joseph said that God threatened to kill him unless he practiced it and yet, even though he slept with these women, God didnt grace him with any kids… hmm 🧐
(4) Joseph practiced “spiritual wifery” - secret marriages that were unlawful according to civil law and that were supposedly justified by private revelations that were inconsistent with the public teaching of the ‘prophet’ that received the private revelation. Totally inconsistent with God’s infinite wisdom that he would go about this in a way that was obviously going to be scandalous/create an appearance of impropriety/challenge social order - opposite of the M.O of Christ and the apostles in the NT.
(5) both taught that lying is always wrong and that deception is wrong when a person has a right to the truth. smith lied about it and never publicly repented - it is also opposed to divine wisdom to put a foundational prophet in a situation where he is going to have to do something opposed to the credibility that ue needs for his mission - and deceived his wife, who definitely had a right to the truth about who her husband was sleeping with.
(6) Smith cajoled reluctant girls into joining his harem by tying their willingness to sleep with him to whether they would attain exaltation or be excluded. he also appealed to the threat the angel had made as emotional manipulation. he did the same to the reluctant male followers that he cuckolded.
(7) It would have made infinitely more sense for God to tell Smith to abstain but authorize it for others - it would have put him in a position where he couldnt be suspected of a self-seeking agenda - especially since God knew Smith would have no kids, this was going to splinte the Church in future, and was going to bring Mormonism into disrepute.

If you have a shred of decency and are going to continue doing apologetics for this depraved man, you have a responsibility to learn the basic facts of his life.
