He chose to stay at Azovstal when everyone else was leaving to surrender. Then he spent seven days underground in darkness — and came out.
Two hundred kilometers on foot through occupied territory. Alone. Alive.
His call sign is “Skhid” — “East.” He was born in Luhansk, took part in pro-Ukrainian rallies, fought against pro-Russian forces, and in 2014 he was told: “They’re asking about you. You’d better leave the city.”
He left the city. And joined Azov.
When he boarded a helicopter bound for Mariupol, he didn’t even have a military uniform. The shortage of equipment was terrible.
And when the helicopter approached Azovstal from the sea, everyone shouted and cheered. They had made it. They hadn’t been shot down. They were still alive.
“Skhid” understood that he would most likely die in the battle for Mariupol. But he was happy that if it happened, it would happen alongside his brothers.
He could have died on the very first day. His group was sent into a building that was already occupied by the enemy. Their commander was killed, and the group was left without a radio or a map.
During the day, they hid in the ruins. At night, they moved. No one knew they were alive. No one was coming to help them.
The nights were the most terrifying, when they would stop and listen to the silence. They would move a hundred meters, drop to their knees, and listen. Another hundred meters — stop again. That was how they moved, kilometer after kilometer.
They reached a canning factory, hoping to find their own troops. But the positions had already been abandoned.
Then they heard enemy armored vehicles entering the compound. Behind them were the river and the sea. There was nowhere to go.
It was the end of March, and the water was freezing. They found a small inflatable life raft and paddled across the river.
When they finally reached the plant, they raised their hands and surrendered to the first Ukrainian border guard post they encountered — so their own men wouldn’t shoot them. They were taken to headquarters.
Then came the order to surrender.
“Skhid” decided to carry out that order in his own way. He approached his platoon commander and asked not to be included on the lists. He was reported as missing in action.
He stayed behind at Azovstal.
Together with a friend, he prepared a hiding place. They found a sewer manhole, dismantled the entrance, and discovered a tunnel-like underground space.
They brought mattresses, blankets, water, canned food, and sugar. They planned to stay there together. But at the last moment, his friend decided to surrender.
“Skhid” was left alone.
He stayed there for seven days.
In complete darkness, he thought through different escape scenarios and created a cover story for himself in case he was captured.
He tried to sleep as much as possible — because the more you sleep, the faster time passes.
On the seventh day, he realized that if he didn’t leave now, he might die of hunger and exhaustion.
He changed into civilian clothes, dismantled his weapon, and discarded its parts in different places. Then he went out at night.
He listened to the silence, stopped, waited. He moved through the darkness until dawn — and made it into the city.
For seven days, he had not seen the sun.
When it rose, he felt that he had won. Green trees, fresh air, birds. He thought the worst was behind him.
He was wrong.
Next came two hundred kilometers on foot through occupied territory. Feet rubbed raw and bleeding. Hunger. Thirst. Constant fear.
But he made it.
He won his freedom.
Today, “Skhid” remains an active-duty serviceman. He serves with the Third Assault Brigade, in the Wings Company, as part of a crew called “Nachtigall.”
He carries out aerial reconnaissance missions — identifying, directing fire on, and destroying enemy targets.
He has lived through something that not even one percent of the people on this planet will ever experience.
He picked up a weapon again.

🇺🇦 Valentina was 23 years old.
She studied popular vocals at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.
She also wanted to help children with Down syndrome and autism...plans she intended to pursue after the war.
However, everything changed when her father, Sergeant Vitaliy Filipov, fell in battle for Ukraine in September 2022.
In July 2023, Valentyna went to the enlistment office, saying: "I want to go to the front. I want to save lives."
This awesome young woman joined the Ukrainian Army's 4th Separate Tank Brigade🫡
On January 10, 2024, while returning from a combat position, the vehicle she was traveling in was struck by an anti-tank missile.
Valentyna was killed instantly💔
Her mother, Olga, remembered her daughter as the embodiment of pure goodness...she was incredibly sociable, caring, and creative, and had a gift for bringing people together.
She wanted to help others. And when Ukraine needed defenders, she chose to go to the front.
My absolutely respect 🫡
Rest in peace, heroine 💔🙏

This is Oleksandr Tsiatska.
He was only 13.
russia killed him.
On September 21, russian forces struck Katerynivka in the Lozova community, killing his mother and leaving Oleksandr with burns covering around 60% of his body.
He died in hospital today.
Sashko was a bright, kind and sincere boy.
Now he and his mother are together again.
Not because they should be.
Because russia killed them.
All this beauty had an even more beautiful name: Esraa Al-Hessi.
Before she could even turn five, an Israeli army sniper decided that she would be a target today. A single bullet struck her in the head while she was inside her tent east of Deir al-Balah.
What could a little girl who had not yet turned five have possibly done to become the target of a rifle?
She had barely begun to discover the world, but one bullet was enough to make this beautiful little girl sleep forever. She did not even know what death was.
Maria was 11 years old.
On March 22, 2022, she hid in the basement of a Mariupol apartment building with her mother Angela, her 8 year old sister Sofia, and her friend Yelyzaveta.
A Russian airstrike brought the building down.
All four were killed💔
Maria loved dancing. Her family remembered her as bright, kind and talented, a joyful girl who loved her sister and was always surrounded by friends.
Rest in peace 🙏💔
Another innocent victims of Russian barbarism!!.
Another hit on a civilian building🤬
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military reports that overnight it delivered a total of around four tons of food by drone to some 100 different locations in the occupied town of Oleshky, in the lower reaches of the Dnipro.
The town, which has been under Russian occupation since 2022, is now facing a genuine humanitarian catastrophe. Around 1,500 local residents, including some 40 children, are at an extreme risk of starvation this winter, isolated from the outside world. Russian occupying forces are both blocking any humanitarian aid from reaching the town and preventing the remaining residents from leaving despite their desperate situation.
The Russian military has also rejected Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire and the evacuation of civilians through an agreed humanitarian corridor.
And now, in Europe in 2026, thousands of people trapped under blockade are facing the threat of starving to death.
🚨 BREAKING: Ukraine carried out a massive operation to bring food to starving people in occupied Oleshky.
4,000 kg of food.
100 locations.
Delivered by Ukrainian drones.
I can’t read this without tears.
People in my country were dying from hunger, trapped under occupation - and our defenders found a way to reach them from the sky.
Obviously, the Russians are not preparing to stop their war, at least for now. Putin always finds some lame excuse – not to meet, not to hold a trilateral, not to talk, not to end it, not to stop the killing… It has been the same with him for years – and all our partners feel it. He is looking for excuses to keep waging the war. It always sounds the same – and our recent meeting with the U.S. President showed that.
America sees the situation the same way. And Russia must develop a desire to spend money not on death, but on something else – they must develop a desire to end this war. We are working on this together – with America, with Europe, with Canada, with Japan, and with many others around the world who are helping Ukraine.
In the coming days and throughout October, there will be a lot of diplomatic activity to change the situation. But beyond that, the Lindsey Graham Act, other mechanisms of pressure – all of this needs to work even harder.
🇮🇹🇺🇦🇷🇺 MELONI: PUTIN FEARED DEMOCRATIC UNITY MORE THAN MILITARY POWER
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni 🇮🇹 says Vladimir Putin 🇷🇺 miscalculated not only Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 resistance, but the ability of democratic countries to remain united against the war.
“What Putin feared most was not military strength alone, but the unity of democratic nations.”
Her conclusion was equally direct:
“I’m convinced that Ukraine will win.”
It is Meloni’s assessment, not a prediction anyone can guarantee. But her argument is clear: Russia’s challenge is not only Ukraine’s ability to fight, but whether the democracies supporting Kyiv can preserve the cohesion Moscow has long hoped to fracture.
We have seen historical photos of prisoners from Auschwitz and Dachau. These photos are from 2026. They show Ukrainian prisoners of war in russian camps.
Now it is official.
"In relation to Israels military operations in Gaza, we conclude that Israeli authorities are responsible for war crimes. Including extermination, murder, using starvation as a method of war, forcible transfer"
(UN Human Rights Council)
A 14-year-old teenager from Chelyabinsk recorded a message to Putin
“I can no longer stay silent. I want you not just to end the ‘special military operation,’ but to disappear from our country, from our news, from our homes, from our fears — and never come back again,” he says in the video.
Gm and happy Sunday 🙏
God bless everyone, and God bless my beautiful family. My portfolio is in the best place it’s been in two years, and I’m truly grateful for that too.
Today is all about the kids taking them shopping for toys and enjoying some really good food together. Hope you all have a blessed Sunday ❤️
