@maddieclyde @KingreaRyan This is a great example of invisibility and unreality bias. Often times we see Columbus glorified for discovered the “New World”, when in reality, we stole it from the Natives.
@CiarroccaCallie I am honestly not surprised that you found this bias in the textbook. Many textbooks in the US are full of bias towards Americans, and unfortunately, I don’t see this changing.
A prime example of linguistic bias in textbooks! Using a word like “roaming” to describe Native Americans suggests non directed behavior and relationships, language that implicitly justifies the seizure of native lands by white Americans who “settled”. #EDCU300#SP015
@maddieclyde This story really touched me as well. I can't imagine being a parent in this situation. With that being said, I admire how this mother said she'd always put her children first, even if it was above her own needs.
#leininterruptpoverty#EDUC300 The Lived Experience: Poverty Budget - "Never underestimate the thoughtfulness of the decisions that low income families make during difficult times"
@derosa_jordan I found this to be so surprising! I can't imagine the stress these families would experience if God forbid, one of their members got sick. So sad :(
"Is there anyone in your network you could tap if you had a $1,000 emergency?" The majority of the American population says yes, but there are an astonishingly amount of families that can't answer this question. #leininterruptpoverty#EDUC300
@CiarroccaCallie THIS QUOTE! More often than not, we take so many things for granted that are considered luxuries to some; our normal is not their normal.
@DanielleDellaP1 That quote really stuck with me as well! I can't imagine what it would be like to not want to go home. You really never know what someone is going through.
In an Essentialist classroom, a teacher would "teach to a test", following a standardized curriculum and instilling in children the essentials of academic knowledge. A scantron test is widely used throughout Essentialist classrooms because it is an easy way to assess knowledge.

@DevynGreenberg Great article! Another Google norm that is briefly touched on is Psychological Safety. Peer support creates an environment where everyone feels like they have the opportunity to speak up, and that is necessary in the workplace.
@RileyMurray300 Great article! Another Google norm that is briefly touched on is Impact. The article mentions that when members of a team think that their expertise is valued, good things happen. Impact is important because it creates an environment where employees care more about their work.
This article focuses on the importance of Dependability in the workplace. This Google norm is crucial because companies everywhere are losing billions of dollars each year due to absenteeism and unreliable employees. https://t.co/AQdTjRADdb
