He said my son just failed a math test, and I am re-studying fractions so I can teach him. I am 42 years old and I don’t remember any of this, so I am reteaching myself.

The guy in the black informed him that he use to be a math teacher, and would help quiz him.

Everything the man in the red got wrong, it was broken down and corrected for him.

By the end of the train ride, the man had a better understanding.

He had a new method to go home with to teach his son.

It’s the little things like this that I love seeing, because most people could care less about what the person next to them is going through.

Sam and Hattie McDaniel were siblings and pioneers of black actors in Hollywood movies. Sam had over 220 acting credits and Hattie had over 90.

Sam first appeared in film in the 1929 movie "Hallelujah," and Hattie began her career in 1930 in the film "Deep South." Hattie was known for her role in "Gone with the Wind" (1939), where she won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Both actors took on stereotypical roles (mostly servants or maids) in Hollywood but opened doors for many black filmmakers today.

Kevin Briggs is a former California highway patrol officer who has stopped more than 200 people from committing suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge.

When Briggs finds a suicidal individual, he usually starts a conversation with them by asking how they are doing, then asking their plans for the following day.

If they did not have plans for the next day, he attempts to make plans with them, inviting them to come back to the bridge if their plan did not work out at the end of the day.

The image below is from 2005 when Briggs spent 60 minutes convincing Kevin Berthia to climb back over a rail on the bridge. Berthia went on to marry and have multiple children.

Briggs has earned the nickname ‘Guardian of the Golden Gate’ for having saved the lives of over 200 people.
