@jennicrog1 my favourite part of my year as a math teacher was today hearing your student call a rekenrek a “wrecknralph” . Mme politely says, “We are laughing with you , not at you!”, as the two teachers in the room had a great giggle!
My grade 2 artists practiced making shades of orange to paint their beautiful butterflies. Next step, hopeful wishes for a safe, loving, happy time at school. 🧡#butterflywishes@Nackawic_NES
@MonteSyrie Truth! I have “that kid” who has struggled to fit the mold since middle school. I’ve helplessly watched them struggle knowing it’s the industrial model/status quo, not my kid. I drafted many emails I didn’t send. My “moldless” kid has made me a better educator and a #proudmomma
Time again and again and again I have seen “that kid” from school become a well-adjusted, productive adult.
Such a flimsy fiction we build from our narrow narrative about success.
That kid. Kid. Not adult.
Kids will find their fit, even if they fail the mold.
🖕the mold.
That moment when you walk in the room during indoor recess and your students are playing school and doing fractions…my job is done! #Math❤️ @Nackawic_NES
The ability to speak two languages may improve memory in later life, a new study found. The study, which involved hundreds of older patients, adds to two decades of work suggesting that bilingualism protects against dementia and cognitive decline. https://t.co/eTtXnEUDvR
These awesome learners love fractions as much as their teacher loves teaching them fractions!
Representing fractions in concrete ways and having all the fraction fun! @Nackawic_NES
