Say hello to handsome Ziggy! This lovely lad with wonderful floppy ears has just arrived in our care. We’re still getting to know him, but he’s a gentle giant who loves fuss and attention. Keep an eye on his profile for when his assessment is complete https://t.co/8uU5rXfpaO
History remembers the famous - but newspapers remember everyone. This month at The Archive we're sharing the extraordinary stories of ordinary women - like that of Air Raid Warden Mrs Parks, as detailed by the Daily Mirror, 30 Aug 1940 https://t.co/Z3nR5TMEKP #WomensHistory
At Kaluku Field Headquarters, four orphans are growing up together. Each arrived here against extraordinary odds.
Mwinzi was found comatose in the Amboseli dust, felled by drought before he was five months old. He revived in an hour and has been making up for lost time ever since – currently the most enthusiastic consumer of leafy branches at Kaluku by some distance.
Natibu was pulled from a water pipeline manhole in Maungu, deeply traumatised by the experience. The same elephant who once trembled in his stable now launches himself into mud wallows with absolutely no hesitation whatsoever.
Korbessa fell into a well at two days old. She arrived at Kaluku fast asleep – so spent from her ordeal that the team had to wake her up to board the rescue plane. She has since assumed full command of the unit. Keeper Joseph is her devoted subject.
And then there is Toto – Korbessa's self-appointed big brother, a role she acknowledges only when it suits her. She is just as fond of jailbreaking him from his stable as she is of being looked after by him.
Four rescues. Four extraordinary characters. All of them here because someone made the call, flew the plane, and stayed through the night.
Your adoption helps fund the milk, the Keepers, and the round-the-clock care that keeps them alive. Meet Toto, Natibu, Mwinzi, and Korbessa – and adopt one of them, or all four – https://t.co/CooVpdJj7e
The ‘Pilgrim Hare’ from St. Mary’s Church at Beverley in East Yorkshire. Dating to the mid-14th century, the hare is dressed as a pilgrim, hence the title. It is thought that the carving was the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s White Rabbit. 📸 My own. #StoneworkSunday#Beverley
Pictured just now, this fireplace close to the Palace of Westminster is all that remains of a row of London terrace houses hit by a V-1 vengeance rocket on August 22 1944. A daily reminder of how mass civilian casualties were inflicted on Britain from the sky.
Here’s the fabulous Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki @AmbJapanUK singing the Welsh national anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of my Fathers). Happy St David’s Day. 🏴

Lulu has recently suffered heartbreak and needs to find a family to help her restart her life . her world recently turned upside down when her owner passed away, and she ended up in Police kennels - she was understandably totally terrified.
Lulu is only 2.5 yrs old and has clearly led a sheltered life and has lost all she has ever known, so she is very timid at first of new people and will hide from them … but then once she has bonded, she clings to her ‘person’ and panics when she’s left alone - which is all totally understandable given what she’s been through.
She is so sweet, and has never once been grumbly or snappy (even with the vet!)
As she’s only young, she’s full of beans and LOVES her walks - she’s very active and those little legs can cover some ground! In the house she loves playing with her teddies, doing zoomies and being as close to her human as possible at all times!!
We need to find Lulu a home who want to help her be her best self , a family who can help give her the self confidence she really lacks - working with separation anxiety isn’t a quick fix so she will need lots of time and patience to help her.
She’d be amazing putting her paw to some dog activities too to use her clever brain and her busy little legs - she’s bright as a button and this would help with her confidence.
Lulu is an amazing little dog (8kg) - we feel that small breeds don’t get enough credit for how incredible they are . They’re not ‘just’ lapdogs!! Lulu is bright, active, full of personality, SO loving, hilarious, sensitive, in great health and has SO much love to give her new family - please don’t overlook her because she’s a little one.

My youngest son visited Downing Street today on the way back to Nottingham University, as he wanted to meeting the most famous resident. Here is Larry the Cat managing the security
4 Months ago Stormzy couldn't walk with a brain injury. He'd been told he had to be put to sleep.
Today I got to go and visit him in his new home.
The world needs more Stormzy right now!!! Can't stop smiling after today
In July 2012, a two-year-old calf was found alone and emaciated on Mgeno Ranch, bordering Tsavo National Park. She had almost certainly lost her mother to poaching. Named after the area where she was found, Panda bypassed our Nairobi Nursery entirely and we raised her at Voi instead, surrounded by the older orphans who understood what she had been through.
Now, this once-vulnerable youngster is a mother! In early December 2025, Panda came home for the holidays – and she brought someone with her: her daughter, Panya! Her name means "mouse" in Swahili and it suits her. We now get the privilege of watching Panya grow up when Panda visits, just like this!
Remind yourself of the moment we first met Panya: https://t.co/3YEIigHcQi

Say a BIG welcome to beautiful girl Bella the 8-year-old Husky.
Bella sadly had to be rehomed due to conflict in the house with another dog and was advised by vets to PTS. Her owner loved her to bits and couldn't face seeing her lose her life so reached out to us.
Sadly the only placement we had was in kennels temporarily which saved her life but we would LOVE to find her the perfect foster home to start her new journey.
Bella can be a anxious girl and would do well in a foster home with someone around. She is a lovely girl when she gets to know you, but will need some work when in foster care due to the big change in her life.
She is looking for a quieter home who likes to get out on adventures and without any small dogs. Bella hasn't yet been dog tested with bigger breed with us but potentially a placement where she can be separated would work.
If you can offer Bella a foster home please get in touch https://t.co/OeApdnFrJ9
