In light of recent events & planned protests in many of our towns tonight, we would like to remind our followers that the GAA is a place for all. That includes all communities, ethnicities, religion and nationalities.
Gaels have been immigrating across the world for over 100 years & the countless GAA clubs across the globe are testament to this.
Across our own county we have players, members & fans from many different nationalities & ethnicities, many of whom follow our page, we are proud to have you in the Orange & White.
We would encourage all our followers to look out for eachother, especially those in our minority groups.
There’s no place for this in our community or in our county.
Stay safe,
Ard Mhacha Abu

Israeli forces killed Palestinian rescue workers in Gaza’s Rafah, firing on one ambulance after another. The Red Crescent wants an international probe.
So who were the medics Israel ambushed on March 23?

On the night between April 8 and 9, 2011, Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja was abducted from his home and unjustly arrested for demanding democratic rights in Bahrain.
Since then, he has endured 14 years - more than 5000 days - of imprisonment away from his family and loved ones.
On this year’s anniversary, we would like to share parts of his appeal statement, which he presented before the Bahraini Supreme Court of Appeal in May 2012.
In this both devastating and powerful statement, Abdulhadi describes the course of events - from his involvement in the peaceful popular movement for democratic reforms and rights in Bahrain at the beginning of 2011, to his violent arrest in front of his family, to the horrific conditions and torture he endured at the hands of the Bahraini authorities between the spring of 2011 and his court appeal in May 2012.
A special thank you to @PaulaLarrain1, Mette Nielsen, @brandt_sara, @AgobYacoub, Maryam Aloui and @SAlwadaei for helping us amplify Abdulhadi’s words on this anniversary.
We hope and pray that Abdulhadi soon will be reunited with his family and loved ones!

🔴 #Gaza: Rescue teams found the bodies of 15 emergency responders - from @PalestineRCS, Civil Defense and @UN.
Their ambulances were hit by Israeli forces. "They were here to save lives. Instead, they ended up in a mass grave."
These abhorrent acts require accountability.
🚨 We demand justice for Mexican environmental rights defender Pablo López Alavez in his sentencing hearing tomorrow - after 14 years in prison on false charges and awaiting justice, Mexican authorities must release Pablo and drop all charges against him.
We stand in solidarity with Pablo!

A new report shared exclusively with Channel 4 News by the charity Freedom from Torture has found that a number of universities are enrolling students onto postgrad policing and security courses even when they come from countries with a history of torture and human rights abuses.
We are extremely alarmed by the latest information we have received regarding the whereabouts of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyyah, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital. He should now be considered as victim of enforced disappeared, and as such at great risk of torture and ill-treatment. Israel authorities must urgently disclose the location of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyyah.
Dr. Abu Safiyyah was reportedly arrested on December 27, 2024, when IDF forces raided Kamal Adwan Hospital. Video footage from that day shows the senior doctor walking toward an IDF armored vehicle before being taken for questioning. Following the incident, an IDF spokesperson confirmed his arrest and stated that he had been transferred for interrogation. However, since then, no further information has been provided about his whereabouts.
But on Thursday January 1st, the Israeli military informed Physicians for Human Rights that they have no record of Dr. Abu Safiyyah’s detention. This response came after PHRI, acting on behalf of Dr. Abu Safiyyah’s family requested information to facilitate a lawyer’s visit on January 2.
In its response to PHRI’s inquiry, the military stated:
"Following your inquiry, we would like to inform you that a review has found no indication of the arrest or detention of the individual in question."
In light of this denial, PHRI has now filed a petition with the Israeli High Court of Justice (HCJ) on Thursday, demanding immediate disclosure of Dr. Abu Safiyyah’s location.
Since October 2023, Israel has detained hundreds of Palestinian healthcare workers from Gaza without charge or trial. Health workers have been subjected to torture and other ill-treatment and been held in incommunicado detention.
#Bahrain:
On 16 December, human rights defender and former @FrontlineHRD employee Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja will spend his 5,000th day in unjust imprisonment.
Criminalised for his peaceful human rights work, he should have never spent a day behind bars.
The Bahraini authorities must #FreeAlkhawaja immediately and unconditionally.
@FreeAlKhawaja
Today, on 5 April, it is Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja's 63rd birthday. He has been imprisoned in Bahrain for 13 years because of his work for democracy and human rights. Family, friends, NGOs and politicians were gathered in front of the Danish Parliament today to commemorate Al-Khawaja and send a strong message: We are proud of you, and we will continue to fight for your freedom and the freedom of other prisoners of conscience #FreeAlKhawaja
We want Abdulhadi to celebrate his birthday among family and loved ones. Thank you for everyone who joined us
