It's with a heavy heart I write to you this morning. One of the pilots, my friend and former colleague, Lt Col (R) Miles "Vicky" Middleton was one of the two Boeing employees on the MA yesterday.

Lt Col Middleton was a graduate of USAF TPS class 05B and former commander of the 419th FLTS. He is survived by his wife Pam and two children.

I worked side by side with Vicky for two years. He was the best of the best. He always had a quick wit and deep technical knowledge of the BUFF and flight test procedure.

It deeply greaves me that his family lost their husband and father. The family has set up a Go Fund Me that I will link in the comments.

HORRIFIC: The first victim identified in the tragic Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber crash at Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday has been named as Lt. Col. Miles Middleton (retired), a former commander of the 419th Flight Test Squadron.

After retirement, Middleton worked as a Boeing test pilot, where he was actively involved in the B-52 modernization programs, including radar upgrades and engine replacement efforts.

He was flying on the routine test mission in that civilian capacity when the aircraft went down.

“Pam Middleton and her two children are facing an unimaginable loss after Pam’s husband, Miles, was tragically killed in the crash of the B-52 at Edwards Airforce Base. As a family friend, I’ve witnessed firsthand the strength and resilience Pam has shown, but the road ahead is filled with uncertainty and challenges,” a GoFundMe established for the family read.

Despite all the dire predictions from the doomer crowd, last night’s UFC event at the White House was pure magic. The weather was fantastic—cool, breezy, and rain-free—and the much-hyped “mosquito apocalypse” turned out to be more fake news.
The fights were solid, but the walkouts stole the show. They showcased the historic East Wing, which often lives in the shadow of the West Wing, and the illuminated backdrop of the White House South Grounds was simply surreal. It was a spectacular setting and a memorable night.
