I'm a LEXRICH5 middle school math teacher learning out loud through Building Thinking Classrooms—sharing wins, struggles, and student thinking along the way.
@MrsFarrellFIVE @MrsBHolden @Desmos I scrolled straight down to you to see what you had to share (fellow math teacher). I am definitely following @Desmos now too.
@MrsBHolden If you are a middle school or high school math teacher, I suggest you follow @fawnpnguyen. She focuses on patterns and problem-solving in math. #ConnectIn5
@MrsFarrellFIVE @MrsBHolden Sometimes they look up a topic, and they go too deep or barely scratch the surface. Students looking at the Pythagorean theorem might search for right triangles and lose their minds when they see trigonometry.
@KaitlynKokal @MrsBHolden Exactly what I was thinking. Too often, students click on the first link. When I do an assignment and need sources, the most time-consuming part of the process is finding a source that addresses a topic from a specific perspective.
@RephinedBoss @MrsBHolden Would love to hear student feedback on evaluating how businesses use social media. Show them the professional aspect and its uses outside of personal.
@MarcouColleen @MrsBHolden Not connected to this post, but did you teach district orchestra 2003-2007? If so, I was in it from Chapin and played the viola.
@PEwithCoachJC @MrsBHolden It would be awesome to hear how you have taken, revamped, and reshared these activities after trying them out with your students.
@MrsBHolden I am a middle school math teacher, and I’m excited to learn about the strategies fellow middle school math teachers are using and excited to try in their classrooms. I look forward to sharing ideas and hearing how others are engaging their students in meaningful ways. #ConnectIn5
Math is Figure-Out-Able! shares insights from their experience at a BTC conference. They aren’t representing Peter Liljedahl’s work directly, which makes this a great listen for an authentic, raw reflection and honest perspective. #BTCthinks#Connectin5

@abbybates24@CPMmath@pgliljedahl Love the dedication to keep learning BTC! How do you design an entry task for a new unit when there isn’t a pre-made one? Thin-slicing is going well, but the initial "hook" is proving difficult. Any advice?
This is a concept map I created for my students. The goal is to show an exemplar, then have them create their own at vertical boards in our next unit (#Thinkingclassrooms). I plan to photograph each one and combine them into a class artifact.
