The idea is good but the text itself was rushed and not thought through. It violated a lot of standard practices to protect survivors and due process:
1. It also released documents related to allegations found to be false or unsubstantiated, not just verified violations or settlements. So innocent people would get lumped in with violators.
2. To our knowledge, there was zero victim consent or consultation on this text. That is very different than with Epstein, where victims are centered and consulted at every step. Here, victims offered all their statements with the promise of protection and anonymity. The text gave them no way to have a voice in what information of theirs or their accounts they wanted public or keep private. That is important because…
3. Although there was a throwaway line about redacting victim names, I do believe full witness or victim statements would have been released. With the way employment at the House works (offices are small, time periods of staff employment are publicly disclosed, etc) it means that even with names redacted you can definitely track details in witness statements and use that to ID victims without their consent. And there was zero mechanism for victims themselves to assert their privacy.
Originally we were supposed to debate the details of the text over two days but for some reason they rushed the vote so we couldn’t iron out any of these details to get this information properly disclosed in a way that guarantees victim safety.
If the text was clean I think you’d get a lot more support. As a survivor, I know why the vast majority of women never report at all and a lot of those reasons, even if unintentionally or inadvertently, were included here. For me at least, guaranteeing the safety and agency of victims and survivors would get me to a YES.
Ngl a lot of people's reactions to this are just confirming my feelings of isolation and anxiety as a Black person who has been advocating for Tourette's and ME, two extremely stigmatized disabilities, for years and has been constantly harassed and dogpiled with no defense.

In Buffalo, our community saw firsthand how racism and dehumanization leads to violence.
Our neighbors were murdered because of the color of their skin by someone fueled by bigoted conspiracy theories.
Donald Trump is a racist. He is an embarrassment to our nation and unfit to serve as president.
No one believes this cover up from the White House, especially since they originally defended the post. We are all clear-eyed about who Donald Trump is and what he believes.
Racist garbage continues to emanate from this President and his White House. From his now-deleted and grotesque post targeting the Obamas, to his doctored image that altered the expression and skin tone of a Black civil rights lawyer, his use of AI is simply the newest form of an old pattern: open racism from Donald Trump.
Just because we aren't totally surprised, doesn't mean we can shrug it off. Decency, dignity, and humanity matter, even now. Especially now.
LRADs are targeted beams of sound, so you want to move perpendicular to the target area to get out of the range.
Moving forward or backward will not protect you, you need to move quickly to the left or right to get out of the targeted sound beam.

Much love to Alex Pretti and Renee Good—but remember—ICE has killed 9 people in 2026. You know the names of the 2 white people they've killed.
ICE has also killed a Black man named Keith Porter, a Cambodian named Parady La, and five Latinos named Heber Sanchaz Domínguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres, and Geraldo Lunas Campos.
ICE is on pace to kill more than 100 people this year. Abolish ICE. Impeach Noem. Prosecute those who committed these crimes.
I’ve covered authoritarian regimes all around the world.
We know how we got here:
1. A Supreme Court that has given the Executive almost unchecked power
2. A broken political party system where the party in power refuses to act as a check on the executive and a leaderless (for now) opposition 3. A federal government that has been gutted of independent levers of power 4. A President who seemingly believes he has total authority to use crushing federal power and is emboldened and enabled by his cabinet.
5. An activated and angry civilian population that has no trust in institutions.
6. The use of federal forces in defiance of the will of states
7. A business and elite class that is largely willing to bear the cost of the chaos.
8. A weakened independent Press and an expanding propaganda network that profits from partisan alliances on the left and right.
I study authoritarianism for a living, so I do not say this lightly: America isn't facing an authoritarian future. America is living an authoritarian present.

Dear @JDVance: As a congressional democrat, I will answer your question.
The reason investigations are conducted before reflexively making a judgement is because no one knows all the facts in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy. You unfortunately have already concluded, without all the evidence, that the victim was a deranged leftist trying to run the officer over, and that the officer was defending himself.
New evidence, however, suggests the victim was a U.S. citizen, a mother of three, a Christian and had recently dropped her child off at school.
Additional video footage also suggests the second and third shots fired by the officer occurred when the officer was to the side of the vehicle as the car was driving away. Under the law each firing of the gun is analyzed separately.
Witness testimony also suggests one of the ICE agents told the driver to MOVE, MOVE, MOVE. The driver may have been trying to comply with potentially conflicting instructions from different agents. Slow motion video from various angles also shows the vehicle appears to have been turning when the officer fired the first shot, and certainly that was the case by the second and third shots.
Your reflexive never admit wrong approach is not only based on zero investigations, it also leads to increased risks to federal officers. The American people will get increasingly agitated and angry if they believe the Trump Administration will never hold anyone accountable ever.
If you want to bring down the temperature, if you want to reduce the risks of violence against federal officers, then you need the American people to believe that you and the Administration will make decisions based on facts and will comply with the rule of law.
It is also highly suspicious that the Administration is refusing to cooperate with local and state officials as they conduct their investigations. There is no reason to make the American people think there is some sort of coverup. Allow all the investigations to be conducted fairly and with transparency.
So I respectfully request that you and the Administration stop pre-judging this case, and stop making incendiary or smear the victim comments that appear to be contradicted by additional new evidence. I also request that the federal officials cooperate with all the state and local officials. That is the American way, and will help calm the situation down.
Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable.
That Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before. Wars for regime change or oil that are sold as strength but turn into chaos, and American families pay the price.
The American people do not want this, and they are tired of being lied to.
This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s cronies.
The President is putting troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no benefit at home.
America needs leadership whose priorities are lowering costs for working families, enforcing the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and — most importantly — putting the American people first.
