Happy birthday @MichelleSwarov1!
Celebrating in lab for our annual Neuro Open House. An outreach program geared toward exposing high school students to scientific research. (Brains donated for science education)
As of today the Osterhout lab submitted 24 grant/fellowship applications in 2024. 8 were written by trainees and all included prelim data generated by them. Very luck to work with this group! @JackiePNguyen@MichelleSwarov1@Hailee_W_001 + Danielle, Rob, Sam
The Osterhout lab has been awarded The Whitehall Foundation Research Grant! These funds will be used to address the molecular and cellular basis of sickness behaviors. Thank you @JackiePNguyen for your hard work and beautiful preliminary data!
Collaborative science is the best science! Another powerful and impactful collaboration between the @mcreynolds_lab and Kati Andreassonโs lab! We revealed how TREM1 disrupts myeloid bioenergetics with aging. https://t.co/9VonHHPcC6
๐ฃPlease RT! Our lab @Stanford_Neuro has an immediate opening for a full-time Research Assistant studying biomarkers of neurodegenerative disease!

Wow!! Have long wished for the existence of something like this. Cool work profiling different immune cell responses to individual cytokine stimuli in vivo. Maybe we will one day be able to model multi-cytokine perturbations that are temporally and spatially complex!
Bittersweet end to an incredible 2 weeks at the cold spring harbor single cell analysis course! I am so thankful for all that I learned and all of the new lifelong friendships formed!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience!!
So excited for the kickoff of the DIAC seminar series designed to highlight the work and personal journeys of incredible scientists of all backgrounds, and to provide a useful resource and discussion space for underrepresented groups and their allies. See you tomorrow at noon!
๐ฅNew from me in @Nature: By mapping out how the brain controls the body's immune responses, scientists are uncovering evidence for something clinicians have long known: mental states can have a profound impact on how ill we get & how well we recover
