Vote NO on HB597 in committee. Mandated reunion with a birthparent is a disastrous idea. @ColleenLBurton @kamiabrownfl45 @CordByrd https://t.co/KBULdQEVli
Dear friends, please read. The best of our adoption scholars are deeply versed in the intersections of racism, gender, conflict, policy, class, and child welfare.

I ordered a $39 dress last night.
I know exactly where my package is in real time.
Some of these kids will never see their parents again. That’s no accident. In a world in which I know where my $39 dress is at 3:41, the destruction of these families is evil intentional neglect.
In an abusive system there is no safe place, no binding of wounds or healing for a broken heart.
Power is used in God’s name to protect the system rather than the victim.
Power is used to oppress and protect the manmade structure rather than the sheep.
2,000 kids are in foster homes all over the U.S. & need help getting back to their families.

A federal judge:
"I can’t understand this. If someone at the jail takes your wallet, they give you a receipt. They take your kids, and you get nothing? Not even a slip of paper?"

There is no mechanism for returning children to their parents. Kids have been scattered to 14 different states.
This isn’t just institutionalized child abuse.
It’s a clusterfuck of epic proportions.
Experts say that these 2,300+ children will probably never see their parents again. This moral depravity is the end result of viewing refugees as "violent criminals" and "animals." We need to forcefully change the rhetoric and dialogue about immigration immediately. https://t.co/BunOy1sSzs
Sobbed in bed last night thinking of the tiniest ones without their mamas and daddies, and the parents who must be experiencing full on fury and terror. How do they even manage to breathe? #KeepFamiliesTogether
Werner and Walter were 14 when they were 'separated' from their parents and put in Auschwitz. They were tattooed 10 numbers apart. ALL Holocaust survivors I interview still weep when they talk about the moment they were taken from parents. #KeepFamilesTogether#NeverAgainIsNow
Continually seeing #adoptees & parents who were separated from them who are SO glad people want to #KeepFamilesTogether, (we can attest to the affects of separation) but who also wonder why our families didn't & don't matter. The incongruity & your blindness to it is painful.
Here's what I know church. You didn't care when I was stripped from my mother's arms. You were deaf to her sobs and and mine. You endorsed our separation as you favored & praised my #adoption, and honestly you're still doing it.
@NicholeJ126 That had to be so hard to read. When it comes to #adoption, I don't think people do consider mother and child to be family. It's painful and impossible to understand.
“To pretend that separated children do not grow up with the shrapnel of this traumatic experience embedded in their minds is to disregard everything we know about child development, the brain, and trauma.” #AskAnAdoptee#FamiliesBelongTogether https://t.co/NCdCwo09EA
Former ICE director says that some immigrant family separations are permanent:
“You could easily end up in a situation where the gap between a parent’s deportation and a child’s deportation is years.” https://t.co/q6ihoTs0OW
