@JLBIII28 I am also a special education teacher and I agree that differentiating instruction seems similar to personalized instruction. I think it is a combination meeting students at their level as well as engaging them in the material. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@RwWhite82 You mention time being a barrier which many teachers feel like is a struggle for implementing new strategies and technology. I think the setup for technology can be time consuming but then the following years it can be time saving. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@joneslauren326 Self-reflection is something I am trying to implement into my classroom for my students. I want them to engage in the material and understand why they are learning our topics and reflect on how they could improve. #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@RwWhite82 I think you make a great point that depending on the student will determine if personalized learning will be successful or not. The question then becomes how to engage an unmotivated student? #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@amanda_piper12 I think accountability is a major part of student learning. We need to present our lessons in a way that allows for students to be accountable for their successes and their failures, especially at the higher grade levels. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@its_jackiec You mention a great barrier that I had not thought of. If students aren't motivated to work independently, you will have many students not working while you are working 1-to-1 with a particular student. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
Teaching in a special education setting, giving students opportunities to focus on learning things that interest them is helpful to engage a student who may have a negative look at learning and a classroom setting. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
I teach in a 1-to-1 environment and I have used choice boards before but I think I could engage students in more personalized learning by allowing them to pick topics to research or allow them to focus on one particular topic of interest #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
One barrier to this implementation is covering the required curriculum in its entirely with every student if the students are working on different topics throughout the course of the unit. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
Personalized learning seems like a great way to engage and motivate students to learn. Giving student choice or allowing students to pick their topics in a unit will help personalize the learning for students. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@KevinTa49838447 We started running teacher PD class where teachers got together to discuss a few specific tech topics and it gave us a place where we could problem-solve and share tips with each other. #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@KevinTa49838447 I hear this complaint often in my district, especially from teachers who struggle with technology as a whole. District training is a necessary part of effectively implementing technology in a classroom. #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@amanda_piper12 I have never used Quizlet live but I hear its very interactive for the students. I want to try it with our next lesson. Have you ever used Quizziz? My students LOVE it and its a good alternative to always using Kahoot. #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
I have found using technology in class to be a great way to motivate the students and have students really engaged in the class lesson. It is also easy to meet individual student needs when using technology. I love using videos and interactives #TFE620W19
@RwWhite82 I think that is a great idea! Its hard to predict what can happen when you are on the "teacher" view, but working through the tech as a student will ensure you can trouble shoot any issues before class starts. #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@RwWhite82 Sometimes accessibility can be different for teachers and students so when I plan ahead, I will ask a student to check a link or game for me to ensure it will open on the students computer and I'm not the only one with access #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@JasonWa83675051 You make a great point though! We need to be thoughtful in our implementation of technology and not just doing it for the "sake of doing it" #TFE620W19#TFE620F19
@its_jackiec You make a good point here about using tech the right amount of times in class. You do not want to overwhelm students with so many different tech tools but if you use too little then they will never become comfortable with the tool #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
@amanda_piper12 I couldn't agree more! There have been times I have assigned webquest for students without checking the links and we end up with so many tech issues and wasted time. I've learned to play the games before class to resolve any issues! #TFE620F19#TFE620W19
Before implementing technology you should consider the learning needs of your students and what tools would be effective for their learning styles. You do not want to use a tech tool that is too advanced or too easy for your students. #TFE620W19
