There is an argument United should have given JJ Gabriel more exposure in pre-season, but the timeline suggests not playing in the Champions League was the final straw.

Said it at the time of appointment. RDZ had Spurs directors up against the wall with no way out. There’s a reason he rejected you the first time. It took a ridiculous wage offer for him and unhealthy levels of transfer control/spending to get him on board. Spurs had to act like a guy in debt taking another loan to pay his debt collector. There are no quick ways out of trouble in football. Let’s see how it leaves you long-term.

In 2000, he appeared on the TV show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and used his winnings to travel to England and undertake several football coaching courses. Eventually gaining experience at clubs like Man United, Fulham, and Brentford.
