Great convo today on World Series, potential lockout and how that affects alternative leagues like Banana Baseball.

Glad we talked a little hockey as I cruise down I-71 thinking about some USA hockey boys being back on their native ice and the response from the respective Canadian fan bases.

@Porsche Only real way to redeem yourself here is to have it beat the Cybertruck in a drag race, while towing a Cybertruck. ๐คฃ
But for real, looks cool. Canโt wait to check it out. ๐๐ป
Cause we hadnโt reached a point where a problem large enough existed to justify the R&D to develop.
But I like where your head is at. The same tech could exist in other consumer electronics as well.
Pharma could benefit from something similar. ATMs/gas pump card readers, car parts etc.
It all goes back to capitalism and is shown in this quote from Fight Club:
โA new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.โ
Also, buying anything financially, health, computer or security related straight from source is probably good practice.
@zubic_eth And the slight inconvenience it creates is the only reason anyone really takes time to notice in the first place.
Applied across everything and itโs not surprising why very few companies/businesses/jobs are successful and most fail.
Lesson in there.
This lasted a lot longer than I thought it would at launch. Was priced out at mint, checked back a few times but didnโt see anything meaniful to me. And yet I did appreciate the thought that tried to put in.
The fact that it even took the time to make an announcement of the shut down is a sign of respect IMO. On a brand level where budgetary cycles and approvals take time to prepare and ROI is a major consideration of every decision that gets made I think nearly 3 years in a down cycle is a substantial commitment to โlong haulโ. Brand reputation is critical to these major companies and for them to do something it must be effective as well as profitable.
Big picture, I donโt know if itโs that big brands donโt stick around, or if adoption and benefit hasnโt caught up to other available technical solutions and known community growth strategies.
Starbucks first piloted mobile ordering in 2014. iPhones barely had ApplePay. They didnโt do that overnight, probably took 2-3 years development. It then took 5 years and a global pandemic to make it make sense. Now every food chain and mom and pop offer it. Itโs become an expectation today.
I feel there is a similar shift coming for blockchain tech (especially with AI advancement). And hopefully brands that did take chances learned lessons and can apply them to future offerings.
In the meantime we need to keep the discourse going on what does this technology unlock and how can we help use it to create identity and provenance for brand loyalists that want to participate so that brands can recognize the ROI without diminishing their brand reputation.
