My latest piece in my series of 'stories from the workplace' in The Hindu Business Line. This one is about building Learning Organizations, but as usual I give more space to just telling stories : https://t.co/Ya1tMQ4RK2

After ages, Raghunath and I have written a piece motivated by Carey's wicketkeeping and Australia's tactical brilliance in the recent Ashes series:

@fredfertang My co athor v j raghunath's favourite. He wrote the essay on Harvey in our book Mid-wicket Tales. The revised edition 2023 is called 'Mid-wicket Takes: A Century and more of cricket'
Thank you for your kind words @qmtitash. And now, congratulations to you and Shom Biswas for your most interesting 'Off Spins, Sixes and Surprises'. To capture nearly every key moment in Indian cricket in less than 300 pages, is just love for the sport.
A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to attend a wonderful session with the authors of the acclaimed book 'Mid- Wicket Tales' @MidWicketTales (S.Giridhar) and VJ Raghunath, moderated by a great friend, anchor and quizmaster @venkyQM
Held at @bicblr

That is very kind! The winner, the delightful book by Sridhar. I loved reviewing it for Deccan Herald some months ago.
@speakingtiger14@azimpremjiuniv@bhogleharsha wrote the foreword for the first edition. Salim Durani gave us our first essay. Many happy memories...
Mid-wicket Tales keeps happily surprising us. Humbled and delighted that the updated, revised edition made the shortlist. A good time to again thank the many friends and colleagues at Azim Premji Foundation for all their help. @speakingTiger14@azimpremjiuniv#cricketbooks
Authors S. Giridhar and V. J. Raghunath have been friends since 1984. Over the years, they played city cricket tournaments together. Raghunath, was a left-handed batter and a fearless close catcher who rubbed shoulders with some of India’s best cricketers of the 1960s and ’70s in the first division leagues of Chennai and Mumbai. Giridhar, bowled leg spin and was also an agile close catcher, though he did not play at the same level.
Apart from Mid-wicket Tales, they have also jointly written From Mumbai to Durban: India’s Greatest Tests (2016).

An absolutely beautiful session at @bicblr conducted by @venkyQM with the authors of these two books, latest additions to my sports book collection. From the stories that Giridhar sir and Raghunath sir shared, I am sure these will be books that every cricket fan would treasure.
A very special feeling. Two BITSIANS, @subodhkolhe@satya043 - graduated perhaps 30+ years after me - but coming to our book launch, getting copies of 'Mid-wicket Tales' signed because the author is fellow BITSIAN. Touched, thank you! @speakingtiger14@bicblr@venkyQM
in Jan 2020, launched my book, 'Ordinary People, Extraordinary Teachers' at the same venue - BIC.
Now, looking forward to tomorrow's discussion, this time on our cricket book. Thank you @bicblr, @Speakingtiger14 and Quiz master @venkyQM

Thank you @gulu1959. We were hoping that the new essays will sit in seamlessly with the old ones. Glad you like them. Raghu and I enjoyed writing the final chapter. Arguing, analyzing, and putting it all on paper:)

@MidWicketTales@speakingtiger14 Delighted with the sequel to the 2014 edition of Mid-Wicket Tales. A lovely read with seven additional chapters. Congrats to authors S. Giridhar and VJ Raghunath for a splendid book

Raghu and I have watched great Tests together since 1984. Including the Tied Test of 1986. And writing together on cricket for many years. "Mid-wicket Tales" has a special place in our hearts. @speakingtiger14#CricketWorldCup2023
#Chepauk looking beautiful today. I recall watching every test match there from 1981-1999. I wish I was there now with my father and his co-author, @MidWicketTales. #Cricket#ICC#nostalgia
Thanks @speakingtiger14 and @scroll_in. In fact Scroll has been kind to feature extracts from our previous cricket book (From Mumbai to Durban: India's Greatest Tests) and from my book on heroic govt school teachers (Ordinary People, Extraordinary Teachers)

The Hindu's review of Mid-wicket Tales first edition was written by late S. Dinakar. A kind, gentle person and superb cricket analyst; his nuanced technical observations were terrific. The quote brought back memories.
