PayPal locked Nigerians out of the global digital economy for 21 years. No receiving payments. No withdrawals. Just ‘send-only’ status while our freelancers and businesses struggled. Now that we’ve built a billion dollar fintech ecosystem without them, they want back in. The audacity.
If you have a first class in Economics your options are a lot too
- Write ACCA or ICAN exams and become chartered. You should have been doing that from 300Level
- You can specialize in finance work in the Big 4 as a graduate Trainee also. One hand
- You can specialize in Commercial banking and enter as a graduate trainee too. Don't forget in commercial banking don't work with a bank for more than 4 years or else your growth will be slow. Change banks evey 4 years.
- If you have your ACCA or ICAN you can work in finance with Oil and gas firms or energy firms in general.
- Don't take up a govt Job. It's regressive 95% of the time.
- One underrated sector is International NGOs. There is the humanitarian and the development sub sectors in the NGO sector. Focus on development if you can. With your ICAN or even your first class you will get a Job instantly in that sector. In 10 years you will be an expat.
- You can also look out for think thank organizations. They are also like NGOs. I know a couple in Abuja. Work with them as graduate trainees also. Good pay. Good career trajectory.
- You can just specialize as a finance person coupled with your first class in economics and you will be unstoppable.

Its been an interesting 1.5 years of a working relationship with @pelezaInt. We have a lot of things in common one of which is being the standard for identity verification across all emerging markets.
@pelezaInt is the biggest background-checking company in East Africa. That comes with a lot of experience, market penetration and happy clientele.
This also makes us truly Pan-African as we will jointly be serving some of the biggest brands on the African continent and beyond.
Thanks to all the regulators we worked with to make this happen, the @prembly and @pelezaInt team, our shareholders and our customers for making it possible.
I don’t normally do personal tweets, but today is an exception! It has been one of the happiest days of my life - my 70th birthday! So much outpouring of love from everywhere!! I want to thank all WTO Ambassadors, WTO staff, friends and family! I’ve never received so many bouquets of flowers from all over the world, as I have today! Along with good wishes and prayers. I consider myself blessed to have a loving husband, family, friends and well wishers! All Glory and Thanks to God!

Today, Uber is a $140B company with more than 6 million drivers.
But in the early days, we had to overcome the same chicken and egg problem many startups face:
Without drivers ➡️ riders couldn’t get a car
And without riders ➡️drivers couldn’t make $
Here’s how we solved it:
