With "more Toxic" I mean exactly the very opposite: fewer yes-men, more critical, skeptical and adversarial mindset. The adjective had been popularized by shitcoin scammers to label people critical, skeptical and adversarial towards their shitcoin scams. We should have applied more (me included) towards NVK and his products (for example when he abandoned FLOSS, which was at the very core of the fuckup in more than one way: we criticized that but too mildly, there should have been outrage, boycotts and holy crusades). And also, to some degree, to his users: we tolerated the "muh adoption" objections to any serious for proper security practices that would have saved many (entropy generation, multi-device multi-sig) and any stigmatization of people bypassing them.

With "more Maximalism", yes, I precisely mean that: we would have been better off, and we would be better off, with many more NVKs in that regard. Shitcoin support in Bitcoin hardware and software is a security downgrade, opening real attack surfaces (as recently demonstrated with Bitbox) and heavily distorts the vendor incentives and culture (as shown with the Ledger multi-years shitshow). Staying Bitcoin-only was a legit selling point for ColdCard, with very few competitors (mostly just Bitkey?). If that was an industry standard, or anyway more widespread among ColdCard's competitors, it would have reduced their relative market share.
