@MonasticWigger@ByzCat Your contention was him posting on X, not the contents of his posts. Thatโs a ridiculous contention as all companies and world leaders are on X.
Too many Catholic opponents of capital punishment go too far when they persistently deploy extreme rhetoric that implies that it is intrinsically evil. Too many Catholic defenders of capital punishment go too far when they now stubbornly insist on making a vulgar online spectacle of it. Each side manifests thumos unguided by reason, so emotionally invested in the supposed pure justice of their position and imagined wickedness of their opponents that they go to extremes their forebears would have insisted on avoiding. Both sides illustrate how it is not thumos that we lack today. There is plenty of thumos, but it is gravely disordered in opposite extreme ways. What we need is the sobriety of reason, to which thumos, while essential, must always be subordinate.
@aidannonx@AF_Graphs Wouldnโt it be reasonable to say heโs at least a combo of Strauss, Girard and Schmitt? Heavily influenced by Strauss at minimum?
