I want to share a story that happened this evening near Sarny, in the town of Klesiv in the Rivne region. The day before, a 10-year-old boy went missing. He had gone out for a bike ride and disappeared. People immediately started searching. They combed the area — surrounded by vast forests and deep quarries where stone is mined.
Everyone joined the search — police, border guards, rescuers, forestry workers. People were even let off work to help. “If only he’s found alive… the poor child, it’s so cold at night,” people in town were saying.
In the evening, the boy was found. Alive! He was lying on a ledge inside a deep quarry. It’s unknown whether he would have survived another night there.
It took an hour and a half and dozens of people to lift him out of the quarry. The ledges were very steep. The quarry was deep.
There is a powerful photo from that moment — some are holding the stretcher with the child, others are holding those who are holding the stretcher.
They united their efforts and found him.
The child is now in the hospital.

Ukraine’s Permanent Representative, Andrii Melnyk, strongly reacted to statements from the Russian side about the alleged “historical unity” of Ukrainians and Russians. According to him, the Russian representative once again repeated narratives about a “single people” and even attempted to reinterpret the history of Kyivan Rus.
In response, Melnyk reminded them of basic historical facts. In the early 12th century, Kyiv was already the capital of one of the largest and most developed states in Europe, while the territory of modern-day Moscow, as he put it, was “a swamp where frogs croaked.”
The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that Ukraine does not need “distorted lessons of history” from a state that has repeatedly acted as an aggressor toward Ukrainians.
He also stressed the resilience of Ukrainian statehood: Kyiv has stood for more than a thousand years and, according to him, will stand for another thousand—remaining unconquered.
This statement was not just an emotional remark, but part of a broader diplomatic strategy by Ukraine—to firmly challenge Russia’s historical and political narratives on the international stage.
