We have been lucky to have the benefit of a lot of true experts who know a lot about COVID through experience and scholarly engagement.
But we also have COVID opportunists—individuals engaging in faux punditry for personal gain.
And it’s a shame.
To all of the #OrthoMatch2021 applicants, remember that you have a full 48 hours to make your decisions regarding your interviews. Those of you who are fortunate to have lots to choose from do not need to accept them all. You will match!

Surgeons: I don’t think tweeting intraop photos with lighthearted commentary is a particularly good look for our profession.
I also wonder about discussions of specific cases in real time.

THE most important tool in public health is communication. Clear, consistent messaging from the top supporting mask wearing, testing, and health officials is how you stop this virus. When the President and Governors communicate the opposite, it is guaranteed to increase the harm.
