As the fast-moving cold front encounters the wildfires scorching Texas and Oklahoma, the fires are oriented from east to south following the new wind direction.
A X5.0 flare (R3 strong radio blackout) peaked at 4:55 p.m. EST today. It was the strongest flare observed since Sep. 2017 and came from the same region as the last major flare on Dec. 14.

CMEโs normally come in 3-5 part structures but for this case weโll stick with an easy 3-part structure
1) CMEs impact our satellites at L1 with a shock and have ~ 55-65 minutes to impact earth.
2) There will likely be a sheath period of various magnetic field structures that cause the BZ to flip very positive and negative easily
3) There will likely be a negative core or a positive core within the CME *IF* the CME core impacts. For CMEs to be geoeffective they will need to have -BZ.

I have never seen anything even remotely like this before. Since yesterday evening, one supercell after the other tracked roughly from Milan to Venice to Zagreb while producing around 10 cm large iceballs. Absolutely insane.
