Texas or USC: Huge resources, elite recruiting footprint, rabid fan expectations, and massive stadium/media presence. Texas (last title 2005) and USC (last undisputed in 2004) went through long periods of mediocrity or near-misses despite the talent and money. A title for either would feel like the sleeping giant awakening and reclaiming its place among the elites.

Patriots Place (the shopping/dining/entertainment district around Gillette Stadium) is a classic example. The Kraft organization developed it as a separate commercial real estate venture. Revenues from hotels, restaurants, retail leases, etc., in that development generally do not count toward the cap pool in the same way core football revenues (tickets, concessions directly at games, naming rights tied to football ops, etc.) do.
