We don’t have an authoritarian government. A multicultural society under a democratic system is easily controlled. A homogeneous informed society under democracy is difficult to control.

@rorty2323 @thatdayin1992 You are counting slaves or at least 90% of the 19% during that time period where slaves. That doesn’t count as part of a societies culture. They didn’t make social decisions or vote. Their culture counted as much as a flock of sheep.

@rorty2323 @thatdayin1992 Yes America was 98 % white Christian and yes white Christians share a culture and world view. Black Americans were a very small minority (and should have been sent back to their homeland after being freed from slavery) . Yes a divided nation is easier to control.
