Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction has won the contract for front-end engineering design, for Fermi America's AP1000 reactor construction project. This is the first time a Korean company has been selected for this task in the US. Article link in reply.

If they are selected for the entire engineering, procurement and construction process, it could be worth $42 billion.

Korea's Samsung C&T and Doosan Enerbility have also signed agreements to collaborate on the same project.

This is good news, IMO, given Korea's superior record with respect to nuclear construction.

Fermi's Project Matador will feature a massive data center that, in the long term, will consume 11 GW of electrical power, provided by four large reactors, SMRs, gas and solar.
