A truly incredible week in Petoa with our largest @actionforedu medical, dental, and optometry team yet serving 1776 Honduran patients!
We partnered with local clinics, Ministry of Health officials, and the Mayor to launch our electronic med record. We worked on this for 2+ yrs
Congratulations to our entire @actionforedu medical, dental, and optometry team who worked tirelessly into the night every day of clinic and serving nearly 2,000 Honduran patients on our huge trip this past week in Petoa!

The @mlb season is in full swing. A new #OJSM article outlines pitch-specific differences in return to performance following UCL surgery. Nearly all pitchers returned to performance in fastball and slider physical pitch qualities, strike-zone command, and overall ability, while some pitches posed difficulties more frequently. Check out our recent AJSM publication highlighting pitch-tracking risk factors and warning signs for UCL injuries in Major League Baseball pitchers! @drchrisahmad@OrthoColumbia
Pitch-tracking data show @MLB pitchers undergoing UCL surgery had higher baseline velocity, greater horizontal release variability, and warning signs, including release shifts, rising spin rate, and late-season velocity decline.

Today is an incredibly meaningful day for me.
The Daily Surgeon is officially out in the world.
This book has been years in the making, built in the quiet moments most people never see. Early mornings. Late nights. Between cases. Between innings. Between responsibilities.
It’s a collection of 365 lessons shaped by the operating room, by sport, and by the pursuit of doing something at a high level, consistently, over time.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors, colleagues, athletes, and patients. Their influence is woven into every page.
I didn’t write this just for surgeons.
I wrote it for anyone committed to improving their craft…
for those who show up every day…
for those who understand that mastery isn’t a single achievement, it’s a daily process.
If even one lesson in this book helps someone take a step forward, then it was all worth it.
I’m incredibly proud to share this with you.

I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire.
It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane
It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs.
Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ?
Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us.
Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.
Talking to independent physicians, it's obvious that the big insurance carriers are doing to them, what their PBMs are doing to independent pharmacies.
They deny, underpay, slow pay, clawback, and create administrative mazes, knowing their victims don't have the time or resources to fight.
Why ? By putting financial pressures on physicians and pharmacies, it makes them more likely to sell their businesses to them , close their doors, or refer the business to their captive pharmacy or provider. All benefitting the biggest insurance companies
We need to ditch the concept of "claims" and make every delivery of medications or care as a billable event that must, by law, be paid on a timely basis , with interest charges for any delays. If the physician or pharmacy doesn't deliver , the carrier has plenty of legal options already. As does the patient.
This is not an efficient market. This is the big guy abusing the little guy. It needs to change to better the care we get in this country
We found pitch-specific differences (velocity, pitching ability, and/or command) in fastballs, sliders, sinkers, and changeups compared to matched uninjured controls.
This study shows that pitch-specific risk factors for UCL injury likely exist + warrant further evaluation ⚾️
Given the differences in each pitcher's arsenal, decreased fastball usage, and improved secondary pitches, it is critical to examine entire pitching arsenals for potential risk factors for injury.
This could lead to more targeted injury prevention initiatives + risk adjustment
🚨Our new pub in @PhysSportsMed evaluates online info on #PRP:
✅Most patient ?s: efficacy of treatment (14%), comparison treatments (13%)
✅Most sources: medical practice (50.9%) and single surgeon personal websites (14.7%), with low website quality via JAMA Benchmark criteria
I will always remember that period in 2021 when our ICU was absolutely stuffed full of extremely sick Covid patients - and they were ALL unvaccinated
2025 and all I hear every day is "the vaccines didn't work"
Complete nonsense
RFK Jr is going to tell the world that vaccines cause autism because it's something that he has believed all his life despite all evidence to the contrary
No new evidence has come to light to support this. Its simply not true.
Doesn't matter. He's decided
Dangerous moment.
New study from Denmark 🇩🇰 of over 1.5 MILLION people who received an mRNA Covid vaccine
NO increased risk of 29 different adverse events
Filter out the noise. Look at real data.
mRNA vaccines are incredibly safe.

Pitch tracking metrics (velo/spin rate) more predictive of injury than player demographics/workload.
What ⬆️ performance can also ⬆️ injury risk. This is why injuries are up & will stay up. Every decision has trade-off #SaveTheElbows
