JUST IN: Memphis police officer Joseph McKinney shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee during a shootout with teens.
The incident happened at 2am when police officers say they were shot at by teens inside a car.
It gets even more infuriating: One teen involved in the shootout, who was also killed, was arrested by the police back in March.
He was found in a stolen vehicle with "an illegal modified semi-automatic weapon with a Glock switch attached" making it fully automatic.
He was also charged for stealing two other vehicles.
He was released at the time without bond.
Joseph McKinney should be alive.
Indeed. We had literally solved the problem of murder on the subway by getting the number in 2017 down to, wait for it: ZERO.
Then, instead of doing what worked, we decided policing is racist, decriminalized turnstile jumping, and ordered transit police to stop enforcing rules.
Baltimore Police say a 14-year-old taken into custody after attempting to steal a car was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest and when questioned about it told the officer, "Doesn't matter, I will be home later."

DISGUSTING: The blatant disrespect in this video is appalling. For a group of young people to treat another human being like this, especially an individual who would give his life for them, is abhorrent!
This behavior is learned, folks. It’s time for ALL our leaders in this country to #SetTheExample of appreciating and respecting law enforcement, rather than denigrating and demonizing us. Because THIS is the result... #BackTheBlue
“To be opposed to this 5-year max — which is not a mandatory minimum — sends the message that illegal firearm possession is not a big deal. I would argue no one who feels that way has ever spoken with a grieving mother who lost a child to gun violence.” https://t.co/RpyyL7YLRD
This absolutely matters right now, because it speaks to lives being at risk. I suspect some interesting points may come up in time, if the topic gets dissected on juvenile association to violent crimes. Sad on many levels tho.
Dozens of teenagers have been shot in the city this year. At least four of them have died from their injuries. Many of the crimes have occurred near school property. I can think of at least six instances off the top of my head.

Unlicensed/unregistered ATV gangs wreak havoc with impunity in NYC. Last week they killed a man. People are beaten like this regularly.
This is what happens when there is no traffic enforcement and no fear of consequences for violent crime.
New York City, where you’ll get jumped over your sneakers. Meanwhile, anti-cop politicians will tell you, you don’t need police. They’ll tell you everything is just fine in the city.
This is why people are leaving. None of this is okay.
Vote better. Your life depends on it.
Two 15 year olds arrested after a police pursuit that exceeded 130mph through Baltimore City and Baltimore County. We talked to a man who had a near miss and heard the boom when the car crashed on his lawn…it kept on going. Three loaded guns recovered https://t.co/pUb1zpJ8HZ
"Roughly one in every five crooks busted for burglary or theft in New York last year got re-arrested on a felony charge within 60 days." A felony. And they got caught. Within two months.
This individual has been RELEASED 🤦♂️
Lynch: “If New Yorkers want to know why the chaos in the transit system is not improving more quickly — this is why. The criminals underground know they can get in a brawl, choke a cop and be back out in hours…” 1/2
2) Another client charged with shooting four people in broad daylight on Belair Rd was offered and accepted a plea deal for 25 years suspend all but time served, which is a sentence of 20 months on four attempted murder counts
It’s been a long year. Full of challenges, lessons & opportunities to grow as a leader. My final takeaway from 2021 is the teamwork in this agency is the best motivation. Hard work, perseverance & a thank you from BPD made this an great year for me personally & professionally!
