Nexus N3 testing day was success (with observations).
The 20m body shadow test was a surprise pass but 30m might have been a little ambitious.
Getting closer to gameday.
A Nexus N3 milestone today: distributed sensor data acquisition across edge nodes.
2 subjects, 4 IMUs, split across a master and worker as one coordinated session.
A step toward multi-subject, multi-sensor acquisition.

Yes agreed. Raw data is preserved along with end to end diagnostics for quality assurance. The concept here is to make measurements and capabilities (sensors, algorithms) sharable
Nexus N3 started with movement and loading, expanded into ECG and heart rate, and is now extending into thermal physiology.
The broader goal: an open-source multimodal platform where research capability can persist, evolve and be shared.

I am trying my best to prepare things around Nexus N3 for #opensource .
Repos are public and work is on going with new transports and plugins being tested.
Do test reports typically get published?
Human space physiology research can move faster when plugins, algorithms, workflows, knowledge and data become shared, reusable assets.
Nexus N3 was built open source to help make that possible — from the lab to LEO and beyond.

What devices and measurement systems are you using — or would you like to combine — for physiological research?
We’ve started a discussion around the combinations people need, what they’ve used before, and where integration is still difficult.

Built some tooling for researchers and developers to build plugins for their own sensors. Scaffold, implement, test and validate with a local runner and intefration tests against the edge orchestration software.
Run all your sensor types in one place. #nexusn3
@PhysioMeScience An interesting and needed study! High impact activity generates higher frequency signals that are required in bone reformation. Conversely higher freqencies can damage structure. In our work frequency modulates through body supporting this.
Nexus N3 could be deployed to rovers. I joked about an #R2D2 style rover that monitors the astronauts physiology and environmental situation to keep them safe but perhaps its no joke?
I was asked to look for cots, ble #emg sensors today that are not tied to "yet another app".
With more need for multi modal sensing point apps just wont cut it.
The Nexus N3 Core edge platform runs on any host hardware. The BLE gateway ensures stable BLE streaming. I ran into BLE issues on almost all hosts including when I put the Rpi5 into a box. Nice box meant bad BLE, I liked the nice box!
One idea in the #NexusN3 platform “sensors” and “algorithms” should be plugins, so the system can be extended by users. Today I’m refactoring the plugin pieces out of the core runtime. Partly because the architecture needs it, and partly because I have new sensors add.
I added RF survey mode to the Nexus BLE Gateway to answer a simple question:
“Does this BLE setup have a good chance of working well?”
With multiple sensors, placement and the local RF environment can matter as much as the code.
