My annoyance with this is because it's not good squad building to buy a 27yo for 40m to be a backup.
You should never buy "backups", unless they're U21. You want players to start then theyre backup due to quality, not because of their purchased role.
Zirkzee is an example.
Excl: #MUFC and Atalanta have held talks for Éderson with a deal progressing between the two clubs. Personal terms not expected to be an issue. Reports from Italy regarding a deal being agreed are premature as of this moment. Still work to do. @UtdDistrict https://t.co/Y2icj9Lrhl
Man Utd shouldn't follow the OGS model because that would see them finishing in the top four consistently, making the semi-finals or further in cup competitions, and creating a great squad that was on the cusp of bringing us back to the glory days.
God forbid.
There are two schools of thought among the #mufc hierarchy about the manager succession plan:
The first is that Michael Carrick gets the job because he deserves the chance, it goes wrong next season and the United hierarchy are derided for following the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer model.
The other is that Carrick is replaced by a more experienced manager, who struggles to adapt and then the hierarchy are accused of trying to fix something that was not broken [@sistoney67]
@MyDinnerWAndrei@todocampista8 - Liverpool won the league the year KDB hit 20 assists.
- Man Utd won the league the year Henry had 20 assists.
- Leicester won the league the year Ozil had 19 assists.
What are you chatting?
@tsnesset Reason we lost the UEL final was because DDG couldn’t save a penalty and purposely ignored instructions from coaches. Not to mention the massive loss of Maguire for it.
Losing out on UCL has nothing to do with losing the UEL final…
Our only manager post-SAF to finish top 4 consecutively is a “previous failure”?
He didn’t reach the high standards we had, aka challenging the best Man City team ever, but he had United going deep in every cup and finishing high in the league.
The Witchunt has already began.
I don’t blame Man Utd for not having a succession plan. The Amorim situation unravelled quickly.
But revisiting previous failures would not be a particularly smart idea.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United sack Ruben Amorim as head coach. 40yo Portuguese informed of decision & goes with immediate effect after 14 months following breakdown in relations. Darren Fletcher expected to take over #MUFC on interim basis @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/kEAu5Wv8F7
@hosang Also because I don’t pay for a blue tick, I had to split this up.
I blame the footballing structure too, but as my original point was, Amorim may not have dug the grave, but he willingly bought a coffin, lay in it, and gave them the nails. Dropping Rashford and Mainoo was dumb.
@hosang 343 is a crap formation for us as it doesn’t maximise the most out of current (and new) players. I have always been against his hire and have been justified.
Prior to Amorim, Mainoo had been United’s and England’s golden boy. It’s more an Amorim problem, than a Mainoo problem.
@hosang I have and saying your assistant manager is a better player than Marcus Rashford is as such.
And not being able to play your 2 most talented midfielders together is a head coach’s problem. Not selling Bruno is a great decision, and what any competent HC would do is use both.
