THCA is like a key has an extra tooth so it doesn’t fit any locks. Remove the extra tooth and the remaining key (THC) is similar to neurotransmitter anadamide so it also binds to CB1 and CB2 receptors (locks) in the mammalian endocannabinoid system (nervous, digestion, immune)

THC’s molecular weight is 87.7% of THCA; the lower tax rate is converting to the weight of the THC, otherwise the carboxyl group (COOH) is also taxed. Delta 8 / 9 / 10 THC all have the same molecular weight but different shapes; the number is which carbon atom has the double bond

If A jurisdiction taxes cannabis by potency – some number of cents (or fraction of a cent) per milligram of THC, call it X – what should the tax rate be on delta-8 THC and the other cannabinoids? For instance, Connecticut has a lower rate for THC-A.

@curated_value That's why I've viewed valuation, margins, & leverage ratios with "EBIDA" since 2021. I also have always included tax payables as debt in EVs and leverage ratios since unpaid 280E taxes are functionally loans from the IRS. EBITDA would apply once Schedule 3 removes 280E taxes.

@aaronvalue My 2023 launch report had a US HHS study saying 18.3% of Americans >18 (=258.4m) consuming in prior year = 47.3m & 13.5% prior month = 35.9m. Colorado study said 19% of >21 4.3m=825k in prior month, Canada study had 27% of 30.6m 16+ in past 30 days=8.3 m.
