The stolen memorial was a tribute to Scottish infantrymen who had stormed on to Juno Beach, in Normandy, on June 6th 1944, before dying in a fierce fire fight a few days later.

Liverpool’s Calderstones are older than Stone Henge.
They are the remains of a Neolithic chambered tomb (a burial monument) built around 4,000–3,000 BC - making them Liverpool’s oldest known monument.
Originally part of a larger dolmen or passage grave, they were moved over time and are now protected inside Calderstones Park.
The stones have prehistoric carvings like spirals, cup-and-ring marks, and other designs - is anyone familiar with these designs?
The latest edition of the wonderful Everton Heritage Show features @SunderlandAFC historian Rob Mason and our very own @FrancisHickey5 - with @lewisroyden the host. Lots of informative chat about the clubs' shared heritage:

@MelaniePrentic2@LiverpoolEmpire Saw it on the West End back in 2016, thought it was excellent. Took me back to 17 Feb 1973, front row seat at the Liverpool Stadium! 😁🎸
More finds from the Grosvenor Park dig. In 2021 a piece of medieval grave slab with a beautiful foliage design was found. This year several fragments of a similar stone were found amongst stones used to make a drain. One piece has lettering. Only two days to find some more!
The #SaturdayShot from the History Hub at the Grosvenor Museum is this lovely painting of the Old Dee Bridge, River Dee, #Chester dated 24 May 1784.

An unusual medieval tile from the Grosvenor Park dig! It shows part of a religious image known as the ‘Pelican in her Piety', a bird on a nest feeding its young. See the complete image in this x-ray of a seal matrix from Chester amphitheatre.
