“There is a phrase for what Reich does in the 𝕏 post. It is not analysis, and it is not advocacy, both of which can be honest. It is a particular kind of laundered demagoguery in which numbers are stripped of their definitions, juxtaposed for emotional effect……”
Senator Sanders, @BernieSanders you have been in Congress for over 34 years, screaming about greed and inequality the entire time, yet the federal budget has not been balanced once on your watch. Not once. You and your colleagues have racked up trillions in deficits year after year, with spending exploding on waste, fraud, and duplication. The GAO says hundreds of billions vanish annually into improper payments alone. You never demand real cuts, never force accountability, never get your own house in order. Instead, you point fingers at billionaires and demand brand new taxes on the tiny group that actually creates wealth.
Why should Americans trust you with even more money when you have proven utterly irresponsible with the record $5 trillion plus we already hand you every year? Private innovators like those you demonize allocate capital with ruthless efficiency, building companies that employ millions and solve problems. Government under your leadership is the worst steward imaginable: bloated, wasteful, and addicted to spending it does not have.
Until you balance the budget, eliminate the fraud, cut the bloat, and show you can responsibly manage what we already give you, you have zero business asking for another dime from anyone, especially not through a failed wealth tax that every serious country has abandoned.
Your post is not leadership; it is deflection. You have had decades to fix government inefficiency and failed. America deserves better than endless excuses and new taxes to fund the same irresponsibility.
Prove you are a good steward first, Senator. Then, and only then, come talk about “fair share.” We are waiting.
Pretty sure this is always the case in history at least a little bit.
I empathize with where you are coming from. I love the old Scottish castles whose mottos talk about utterly destroying those who betrayed me, it’s in my blood too.
But I also know several key leaders who woke up and read some books and realized who the bad guys were. And are on our side now. I’m in chats with some of them.
I care about where we need to the country be in 2035 with better cheap healthcare and no 100T debt overhang that will cause us to be like UK or Canada or worse on that front as they decline; way more affordable housing with functional ultra-fast permitting, super fast commutes for every urban area with no traffic with tunnels et al, remigration and no illegals, crime way way down, less govt fraud, an easier place for everyone to build and run small businesses - and a functional free country that’s strong and the envy of the world - with a culture that reflects our founding Christian values.
We can get there ! It’s worth winning.
