This is how Belfast looks on my femicide map.
Each of the ~1,000 pins is for a woman or girl murdered in Belfast between 1900 - 2025.
Almost all of them murdered by men and mostly by the type of men who were strolling around Belfast tonight wrecking their own city. /1
The blatant violent racism on display in East Belfast is absolutely sickening to the core.

Mysterious ‘cold blob’ in the Atlantic suggests the AMOC is weakening
A patch of ocean south-east of Greenland is the only place on Earth that is cooling, and it could be a sign that the warm water “conveyor belt” in the Atlantic is slowing down

Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

UN report: In Ireland, data centres accounted for 21% of total metered electricity in 2023, exceeding all urban households...Ireland is a concrete, documented example of what happens when AI infrastructure growth outpaces energy planning https://t.co/VYUCAWHcF6
One year ago, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation started operating militarised food distribution points in Gaza. Today, people are still living with the consequences of the injuries they received when they desperately sought food.

Ireland has the highest electricity prices in the EU. 319,000 homes in arrears. A fifth of the grid feeding data centres that run 24/7. And a government that insists, straight-faced, that none of this is related.
Denial isn’t a policy.
People in the Republic with petrol & diesel cars that are more than 13 years old are to be eligible for grants of €8,500 to buy a new electric vehicle under a new scrappage scheme, the Irish Times reports.
Documents obtained by the Sinn Féin MEP for Dublin, under Freedom of Information (FOI) reveal that the Terms of Reference for the €100,000 report were heavily skewed to produce a predetermined outcome in favour of data centres.

Generative AI doesn’t run on magic. It runs on massive data pipelines built on privacy violations by design.
Our new @Amnesty report exposes how big tech’s AI systems are powered by surveillance, data extraction, and abuse of people’s rights, at scale.
We researched the models powering some of the most popular publicly available standalone generative AI tools, including GPT 3 by Open AI, Google’s Gemini, Meta’s Llama, DeepSeek and tools by Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.
This is not innovation at any cost. It comes at a high price: our human rights.
