🚨Say NO to Project RIP OFF!!🚨Are YOU prepared to spend an extra $27,000 on your gas bill? That's what it's going to cost DC ratepayers on average if Washington Gas gets approval to proceed with its reckless plan called PROJECT pipes. Watch for more info: https://t.co/4lIye7b4Kn
Check out this trailer based on The Lost Trees of Willow Avenue, the new book by CCAN Director Mike Tidwell. If you're tempted to learn more, grab a copy wherever books are sold — or click the link: https://t.co/rnV0QPJPjp for a signed edition, with all proceeds supporting CCAN.

It's the last minute to donate to Chesapeake Climate Action Network's Polar Bear Plunge to "Keep Winter Cold!" I will STILL be jumping into the freezing cold Potomac river tomorrow!

🚨BREAKING: Ahead of COP29 in Baku next week, we projected our demands for real climate action onto Tower Bridge & the Azerbaijani Embassy.
Because #COP29 cannot fail.
Our leaders must end fossil fuels, make polluters pay, and get climate finance done.
No more excuses.

Then, as you get back up, let this message sink in: Half of America did not vote for Trump. Half of America is still progressive. And during Trump’s first term, as a reaction to his extreme policies, many states and counties and cities fought back BIG TIME.
Full statement here: https://t.co/LkJnT62Oj6 — and remember you are not alone. Together, we will fight and we will win. We have a secret weapon: Each other. And we have a vision of a better world that no tyrant will ever take from us.
But now you’re terrified-terrified that half of this country supports a climate-denying tyrant for President — again. Take whatever time you need to process that fear and sadness and pain. Take a long walk in the woods. Spend more time with your loved ones. Eat your favorite meal
It hurts. It hurts so bad.
We know you’re in shock. So are we. We know you’re exhausted and sad. So are we. It feels like 2016 all over again. Only worse.
Notes from the doors
As our democracy lurches toward a moment unlike any other, Bill McKibben and I are here on what we’re calling the Silver Wave Tour, knocking on doors in Philadelphia for Harris on a sunny Tuesday.

Rather than continuing to rubber-stamp Washington Gas’s spending requests, the Public Service Commission needs to promote DC’s transition to clean energy with a plan to move beyond gas. Written by our own Mustafa Abdullah! #stopprojectpipes@ggwash https://t.co/EGaR6mr7X5

"the leading factors fueling the (rural solar) opposition are concerns about changes to the visual landscape and a loss of rural identity, followed by objections about who is getting the financial benefit. Misinformation is a factor, but not a leading one"
While @washingtongas claims small climate pollution cuts, @wmata reduces more in just 5 weeks of transit. Methane gas pollutes & pipelines pose safety risks. For cleaner air, it’s time to move #beyondgas. @DC_PSC, we need real climate solutions!

The "cloud" is not so intangible- massive data centers, like DC12 in Northern Virginia, is equipped with 18 megawatts of energy, enough to power 14,400 homes. Energy strains data centers require outweigh the industries investments into renewable energy.

“Virginia needs to be far more selective in the types of data centers it is attracting. Foremost, the tax incentive should only be offered to data center companies that commit to carbon-free electricity with hourly matching” - @selc_org

Just going to leave this here... "Revealed: Shell oil non-profit donated to anti-climate groups behind Project 2025
Foundation says it ‘does not endorse any organizations’ while funneling hundreds of thousands to rightwing causes"🤡

“Billboard owners (in Houston) weren’t willing to work with us, citing concerns about upsetting their oil and gas industry clients,” adding that the owners even asked if the message could be made “more positive” and avoid using the term “Big Oil.” 🤣@sunrisemvmt@StopBigOil
