Why have reedbeds around #windermere declined by over 90% since 1870? Reasons include changes in lake levels, development, boating and wildfowl to name a few! We're restoring them back to their former glory, but we need your help: https://t.co/nE0L6DiZVL

Yo Elon! Have you calculated the carbon impact of all the millions of reprints of labels, signs and documents on which the logos are printed? Tones and tons of resource and carbon wasted?
We'd like to welcome our new invasive species co-ordinator, Sammy! Read all about what she's been getting up to in her first few weeks: https://t.co/N9AWheTXje

Quite a few rivers like this in the @SCRiversTrust patch for sure! we've dealt with a few of them but many more out there!! There even a location where the gravel collected in a weir pool is dry and the whole river is going through the gravel and through the weir too.
Contrast the dry Upper Derwent with the flowing Calder. Why?
The Derwent was moved to the side of the valley and sits perched above its floodplain, the Calder flows freely across the valley floor! Put our rivers back where they belong and they won't stop flowing in dry spells...
Data logger set up time!!! 5 data loggers going out tomorrow to measure water flows in a series of sub catchments. Its not often we get the opportunity to get pre and post flow data so we @SCRiversTrust are looking forward to it!
After a fantastic @DamRemovalEU UK conference last week I thought I had better get myself back to a weir a removed a while ago. Looking great and settling in nicely. What do you think @ollyolly092@EnvAgencyNW@SCRiversTrust
Same soil type, same corn-bean rotation 20+ years, however- left sample has not been tilled or had anhydrous ammonia applied for over 20 years. The soil on the right has been tilled each year and had anhydrous ammonia applied in the fall. #soil health.
We @SCRiversTrust have used this fund lots. Its a great way of delivering important fisheries improvement work. We've used it for salmonid gravel spawning site cleaning and LWD fish refuge creation to name a few!

The UK gov is reviewing ELMs (Environmental Land Management), it’s severely under threat.
ELMs is far from perfect, but it’s the best chance we have of creating a farming system that produces nutrient dense food & protects/enhances environment

Join us next Tuesday for a super mission of a litter pick! 💪
This will be a ‘heavy duty’ litter pick involved lifting and lowering buckets over the wall, climbing down and up a short, steep slope, and negotiating mud and low hanging bushes.
