@HermanaSleven@CreativeDeduct@Heccles94 Covid was anticipated to be a temporary situation. Hikes in minimum wage, NI contributions (and threshold increases) and business rates are considered permanent. Fuel and energy costs probably more medium term risks. These have happened so there’s no “in case” scenario.
@HermanaSleven@CreativeDeduct@Heccles94 They need to stick to previously published profit forecasts, or suffer consequences. If costs unexpectedly rise - which they have on many fronts - those costs need to be mitigated in order to stick to the plan.
@Duncan_Smith@pipterino He agreed a studio session via Mike Duffy and forgot about it. He knew she’d been successful with Locomotion in Aus. However he’d gone awol for the week when she turned up and no one knew what to do with her.
@NIGELHUNTE65293@ArturNadol7566 An investment requiring this much capital spending (£5bn of their own money) isn’t going to be turning a profit for quite some time, regardless of how much is ultimately sent back to the US.
@benjaminbutter@DPJHodges Whilst I don’t disagree, a similar argument could be made for the Labour Party being unable to find a suitable sitting MP to replace Kier Starmer. They have 402 of them to choose from! (I’ll happily accept this is whataboutery, but the fact still stands).
@SeanBrackstone Because there are costs to keep them running, insured and maintained I would imagine. I would not be against a small subsidy to contribute towards this, but why should the vast majority of taxpayers who don’t use it contribute all of it when council funds are stretched?
@barcodemark1 I wonder how this is affecting the future of Spain’s tourism industry. Will many people pivot elsewhere for their future holiday plans to avoid these unnecessary inconveniences?
@barcodemark1@DesmondFancey That completely made-up counter-factual statistic has been debunked SO MANY times by economists of all sides. It’s time to let it go and focus on some more valid arguments.
@Towerhallplant@DanNeidle Mine has been £7.50 pm for 40gb and 5000 minutes for at least the past 7 years, and I can still roam in the EU for free. Is this not normal? My first mobile back in 1999 was £15 per month with 50 free mins to landlines and other Orange phones after 6pm, if I recall correctly.
@sophiegrenham@Rathmacan@daisybruni Whilst he is being a bit blunt about it, I do side with the point Tom is making. But don’t worry, the government is introducing a ban on most flavours soon, I believe. Unless of course they u-turn on it 😉.
