As a retired chief, I will say that one officer escalated that pretty unnecessarily. I can absolutely see why he is on administrative leave. That’s not how you handle that situation. He should have attempted to de-escalate by explaining why he needed him out of the car. If
You put your hands on someone like that, you better have charges and a reason. Rolling up
Your window doesn’t equal ripping someone out a car and slamming to the ground just to “detain”. This is what makes good officers frustrated, because we lose public trust because of loose cannon officers.
