@MattCarr55 According to UK Press Gazette: ‘But journalists have been doggedly telling the stories of the victims of the scandal for more than a decade, with the starting gun fired by Computer Weekly in 2009’. So you are now lying. Well done.
Read the attached statement made by ex Post Office investigator Stephen Bradshaw for why the Post Office should insist a 47 year old mother and sub postmaster, Jacqueline Macdonald, should be found guilty of theft and not just false accounting. It is shocking.
He says that if she was done only for false accounting, the integrity of the precious Fujitsu Horizon system would be undermined in future cases, and the appeals of wrongly convicted sub postmasters would have credibility.
Bradshaw had his way. The judge in the trial agreed with him. This woman of no previous convictions was sentenced to 18 months in prison, for theft and false accounting.
The point however is that Bradshaw was an employee. The big question is who further up the management ladder incentivized him to pursue sub postmasters, most of whom were innocent of any wrongdoing, while denying all the many flaws in Horizon - and to pursue them through the courts in such a single minded and determined way.
This was just one of the many harrowing disclosures in today’s profoundly depressing session of Wyn Williams’s statutory inquiry into the Horizon scandal. It has been impossible to watch without feeling fury and great sadness at the brutal treatment of sub postmasters.
Hell’s Teeth, it just gets worse.
What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
“Post Office fraud investigator Stephen Bradshaw has been accused of forcing a disabled postmaster to use a parcel lift ahead of an interview, the inquiry heard.” https://t.co/9o3wCX8J3v
@gregrythegreen@sewateruk Hi. The estimates come directly from @sewateruk on their interactive map.Its incredible a company supplying the public continues to get away with this. I don’t think they consider us. Last tweet didn’t even mention Cade Street. The water give out was not in operation today.
@sewateruk And again you move the restore time. Without any updates. It’s gone from 1pm today to 6pm… having moved 6 or so times already. Honestly 12 bottles of water for 5 people for 3 days…
We’re sorry to those in areas of Sussex who may still have no water. Techs will work overnight to restore supplies as soon as possible while preventing further bursts.
Water may be discoloured as it returns; this is normal after a burst & will clear by briefly running a tap.
Have to say I’m absolutely blown away with @taylorswift13 in my local cinema. I bet she has no idea where Uckfield is 🤣 The best seats…you feel sooooo close. All in @Dolby sound too… Phenomenal #FeelGood#TaylorSwiftErasTour#Uckfield
The death of a 15 year old girl on her way to school would be heartbreaking under any circumstance, but the fact her life was taken in such a violent way by another young person chills me to the core.
The frightening thing is I have a daughter and nieces of this age. While they don't live in 'London' (Croydon used to be Surrey once) this could have so easily have been them, or any number of young girls going to school in Britain yesterday morning, minding their own business with their whole lives ahead of them.
This madness has to end.
How is it now normal for children, and they are children to be roaming the streets armed with knives? When did society become so bankrupt of morals and apathetic that this became normal?
Knocking on 50 like I am, fights were fought with fists back then, not weapons, and while I'm not excusing that, because it wasn't ok then either, you'd still go home afterwards. Battered and bruised, but alive.
I imagine to be a child in Britain today must be terrifying. Social media, online bullying, the wide and free availability of online porn and the abject poverty most families now face thanks to a pandemic and rampant inflation are a recipe for disaster.
Technology has changed the world for sure, but I'm not entirely convinced it's for the better.
But where are our leaders in all of this?
Caught up in infighting and apathy. @SadiqKhan more bothered with taxing hardworking people by any means possible, and @rishisunak hiding behind No.10s shiny door, never to be seen unless he has something to bleat about, that generally speaking doesn't affect the lives of real people. They're pathetic. Churchill must be spinning in his grave flicking two fingers the proper way.
We've been through history-defining times in the last 3 years. We are bankrupt, financially and morally and heading rapidly towards a Mad Max style future. Britain is on it's knees, there is no money.
So let stop sending British money to ungrateful foreign warmongers, stop militant unions demanding unrealistic pay rises, stop this eco-nonsense and wild immigration, pandering to the whims of small minorities and hundreds of other schemes taxpayers cash is wasted on on a daily basis.
Spend it where it's needed, law and order. Clean up the streets, remove the knives, the gangs, the open abuse of drugs on the streets and rampant shoplifting. Let's restore some fear of the law.
Get to the root of the problem, young people with no hope for their futures and nothing to lose. They deserve better than the shitshow they've been handed.
The Wild West should be a thing of the past, not Britain's future. It's time to step up.
