रामदास स्वामी छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांना भेटलेत की नाही ते त्यांचे गुरु होते की नाही हे सगळं बाजूला ठेवून सुद्धा छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांसाठी ते काय होते हे या थ्रेड मार्फत वाचून म्लेच्छवृत्तीच्या नीच लोकांना प्रचंड त्रास होईल पण ही तळमळ मळमळ इतिहास आणि सत्य बदलू शकत नाहीत.

इ.स. १६७८ च्या चाफळ सनदेप्रमाणे छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांनी स्वतः रामदास स्वामी यांचा उल्लेख श्रीसद्गुरुवर्य असा करतात हे पत्र ब्रिटिश लायब्ररी, लंडन मध्ये आजही सुरक्षित आहे. महाराजांनी आपल्या संपूर्ण कारकिर्दीत कुणालाही संपूर्ण किल्ला दिला नाही एकमेव अपवाद म्हणजे इ.स. १६७६ मध्ये सज्जनगड किल्ला रामदास स्वामींना दिला. हा आदर शिवाजी महाराजांनंतरही थांबला नाही छत्रपती संभाजी महाराजांनी राजाज्ञापत्राने (Royal Order, 1682) सज्जनगडावर समाधी मंदिर बांधले, छत्रपती राजाराम महाराजांनी मूळ पत्रात लिहिले "हे संस्थान बहुत थोर येथील चालविणे आम्हास अगत्य", छत्रपती शाहू महाराजांनी त्यांना तितकाच मान दिला याच्या ऐतिहासिक नोंदी उपलब्ध आहेत आणि शेवटचे मराठा राजे छत्रपती प्रतापसिंह महाराजांनी इ.स. १८१७ मध्ये अंतिम सनद 1817 दिली व आपल्या डायरीत सज्जनगडाला "गुरूचे स्थान" असा उल्लेख करून मान दिला, म्हणजेच काय छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांपासून ते १८१७ पर्यंत तब्बल १३९ वर्षे प्रत्येक छत्रपतींनी रामदास स्वामी यांच्या कर्त्यत्वाला मान्य केले मान दिला

आता त्यांच्या योगदानाबद्दल बोलूया दासबोध, मनाचे श्लोक, अस्मानी सुलतानी, पराचक्रनिरूपण हे ग्रंथ फक्त मराठी साहित्याची संपत्ती नाही, तर संपूर्ण भारतीय संत साहित्यात एकमेव असे ग्रंथ आहेत जे त्या काळातील सामान्य माणसाची परिस्थिती नोंदवतात. पंजाह सखियाँ या शीख परंपरेतील ऐतिहासिक हस्तलिखित ग्रंथात नोंद आहे की रामदास स्वामींनी सहावे शीख गुरू श्री गुरू हरगोविंद साहेब यांची भेट घेतली म्हणजे त्यांचा आदर फक्त महाराष्ट्रापुरता नव्हता. आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर बोलायचं तर दासबोध आज जर्मन, इंग्रजी, तमिळ, तेलुगू, कन्नड, गुजराती आणि सिंधी भाषांमध्ये अनुवादित झाला आहे, अमेरिकेत इंचेगिरी संप्रदायच्या अनुयायांनी दासबोध International Edition प्रकाशित केले आहे, फ्रान्सच्या Encyclopædia Universalis आणि जर्मनीच्या Brockhaus Enzyklopädie यांसारख्या जगातील प्रतिष्ठित विश्वकोशांमध्ये रामदास स्वामींची नोंद आहे, आज भारतात महाराष्ट्राबाहेर बंगळरु , कोलकत्ता , हैदराबाद, इंदोर अशा अनेक ठिकाणी समर्थ बैठका आणि परदेशातही अमेरिका, युरोप यांसारख्या देशांमध्ये बैठका होतात जिथे दासबोध नियमितपणे वाचले जाते म्हणजेच आपल्या एका मराठी संताचे विचार आज भारतभर आणि जगभर पोहोचले आहेत.

छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांनी आणि त्यांच्या पुढील पिढ्यांनी शिवाय महाराष्ट्रातील जनतेने ज्या संताचा सदैव आदर केला जगभरातील विद्वानांनी ज्यांच्या साहित्याचा अनुवाद केला, ज्यांनी दासबोधासारखं अजरामर साहित्य दिलं त्यांच्याबद्दल स्वतःची बौद्धिक व सांस्कृतिक लायकी नसताना अनादरात्मक प्रतिक्रिया देतात कोण तर ट्विटर वरची काँग्रेस आणि इतर ब्रिगेडी कुत्री !
