@Kearabile_ I care! I did this too! The first 2 weeks were hell but then my life improves dramatically! Well done for sticking with it! Keep going, onwards and upwards!
@Springboks@SmithKwagga@CheslinKolbe@fafdeklerk our girls were hoping to see you at Beverley Hills yesterday afternoon but we're so happy to even just see the bus!
Good luck for Saturday, we will all be there to support the Best Tem in the world!!!!
@BrentLindeque Not going to listen to this because I want to survive December. We lost our precious little girl 8 years ago when she was 5, she needed a heart transplant. It's been tough, but I always love and appreciate when people say her name. We love and miss you Amy
Sending love to all
I was recently asked what my favourite “Christmas Song” was and I was about to reply that it was Mariah (you know, cause we defrost her every year for a reason), but in reality, it’s a song called “This Christmas” by a great pop-duo called “Oh Wonder”.
I found them in the middle of cofifi.
They released a song called “Hallelujah”, which I overplayed and then some. It was a slice of happiness for me. And the music video is pretty rad too. I started listening to more of their stuff and eventually happened upon “This Christmas”.
The song is about how we’re all supposed to be happy at this time of year but how actually most of us would give all of it, the lights, the festive cheer, the cosy nights and all the love to just have someone that we are missing with us.
And I know that sounds like the saddest song in the world.
But it’s not.
David M. Eagleman wrote in his book “Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives” that we will all die three distinct deaths. The first, when our bodies cease to function. The second when our body is consigned to the grave. And the third is that moment, sometime in the future, when our name is spoken for the last time.
This song is a reminder to speak the names of all the people who I would give anything to have near over the festive season. Those incredible humans who made me, who are no longer here.
Our mosaics.
Because we are all mosaics.
Pieces of light, love, history, stars and memories of the people and things we love... glued together with magic and music and moments and words.
And so, even though this song may be a little sad, it also reminds me to say the names of the people I miss. To include them in my festive thoughts. And to be thankful that they are part of my mosaic.
Happy Birthday for tomorrow Dad.
Okay. Love you. Bye.
Was 2007 the last great year for movies? There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Zodiac, Assassination of Jesse James, Gone Baby Gone, American Gangster, Michael Clayton, Into The Wild all came out that year. More good movies in a single year than in the past decade combined
It snowed last night...
8:00 am: I made a snowman.
8:10 - A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman.
8:15 - So, I made a snow woman.
8:17 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.
8:20 - The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead.
8:22 - The transgender man..women...person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with detachable parts.
8:25 - The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with.
8:28 - I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.
8:31 - The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be covered up .
8:40 - The Police arrived saying someone had been offended.
8:42 - The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.
8:43 - The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.
8:45 - TV news crew from BBC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied "Snowballs" and am now called a sexist.
9:00 - I was on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.
9:10 - I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.
9:29 - Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be arrested.
By noon it all melted
Moral:
There is no moral to this story. It is what we have become, all because of snowflakes
