A cash-starved council is proposing disabled people be interned in care homes if their social care is “too costly”. This is a story of savage public funding cuts but also of which people society deems to matter.

@DrFrancesRyan@guardian I am so proud of Mark and all the other @BrilLiving members who are fighting so hard against this policy. But also so very sad they are in the position of having to take up this fight.
Social work hero’s don’t always wear capes - but they should always wear great glasses!
I learnt a lot more than that from this hero. May your light shine on Daryl 🌟
@bezz_a@BASW_UK @pwillis5 @j_scourfield @symondsjon @_DrJRoy @Acsocialwork @Harr_Ferguson So sad to hear this. I feel so privileged to have known him and grateful for the support and encouragement he offered me. Truly one of the best. That picture beautifully captures his spirit.
@_DrJRoy 😂 I feel your pain. Like others have said - just trying to be kind to myself and now only re-record something that went horribly wrong rather than a mini stumble or slight tangent... I do often pause to breath between slides though.
@parthaskar Would be so good - just had to choose a new pump and from researching decided to go with the Tslim - but I have some worries and would be good to feel I’m not tied in for 4 years if I have made a mistake!
NEW RESOURCE Help children and young people in care to talk about their educational experiences. Based on research by Rees Centre @OxfDeptofEd and @BristolUni, funded by Nuffield Foundation @nuffieldfound

@HackneyChild “They call it care -so people just actually need to care” Really powerful words from a young person I worked with. I think good quality stable relationships need to be prioritised more - not only with carers but also with social workers, teachers, friends etc.
@parthaskar I feel conflicted. As a type 1 do I want to be shielded? Not really. Would I like access to more support to enable me to manage the risk in a way I feel comfortable? Yes - I would like to access vulnerable slots for shopping / clear advice for my employer.

A poem about a no deal Brexit by an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic:
Dear Mr Johnson - and please, please don’t lie,
I just need to know - am I going to die?
