@LochNessDragon@ZsoltNagy7@BioLayne I might have messed up couple AA because I was recalling from memory but bottom line, @BioLayne is absolutely correct. How can you deny the caloric value of AAs ?!! Which biochemistry textbook says that protein is Only used as building blocks ?!!!
@LochNessDragon@ZsoltNagy7@BioLayne yes amino acids provide building blocks. And no, the body doesn’t use protein as an energy source ONLY in emergency.
Any excess will be used to form a substrate in the TCA cycle for energy or to form Acetyl-CoA.
And excess Acetyl-CoA will be used for lipogenesis!
