Perhaps this was true at one time, I do not know. I know my daughter is on Financial Aid as well as many daughters of white families. And, my daughter had highs and lows and has always been supported at the school. You all know nomenclature is important.
@GiniaNYT Hi. Its time for a language adjustment. Please stop writing that non-wealthy or non-white students are "On Scholarship" at Independent schools like Brearely, Dalton, Collegiate, or Hewitt (where my daughter is a student.)
On scholarship makes it sound like a) parents don't pay any tuition at all, and b) that these alleged "scholarship" students MUST be the best students in the school and will be quickly turned out if any change occurs in their grades.
@mihirzaveri The problem with so called affordable housing is its too expensive. I like my neighborhood, I want to stay here but for years I wanted a 2nd bedroom. All of the lotteries would require me to pay 50% of my monthly income. I'm still sleeping in my living room.
@andylocal What I don't understand about this Top 50 list is - if you know this person is in such bad shape why don't they put them on AOT allowing the person to be hospitalized immediately and compelled to take medication? Am I missing s9mething
@blorenzo@michaelharriot That is fucked up, but it was blatant so maybe you could de-program yourself. I think a lot of people get the same message covertly and you believe the lies you are told. I did for a long time sadly.
@michaelharriot I had to watch it because I love movies and I had to see what the bruhaha was about, and I was not aware of myself as a Black person. Some scholars believe, and I agree, the Black characters are subversive and have inherent powers. But it is pro-segregation propaganda at its best.
@SenSanders I heard your State of the working class and what really hit me was when you talked about the stress of living paycheck to paycheck as a parent. This has been my entire existence as a human being.I pray this will not be my daughter's life too.
