Today, during the launch of the 2025 State of Uganda's Population Report, under the theme: “Mental Health: A Silent Emergency.”
Our Executive Board Chairperson @pamdebams emphasised that Mental health is no longer peripheral. It is central to Uganda’s development trajectory.
"There remains a clear mismatch between mental health need and investment, we must shift from viewing mental health as a social expenditure to recognising it as a strategic investment in economic growth."
She encouraged the @MinofHealthUG, @mofpedU, #Developmentpartners, #CivilSociety, #Privatesector, #Media, #Religiousleaders, among others to continue working with the National Planning Authority(#NPA) to translate evidence into policy, programmes and investment.

Depression, anxiety, stress, and other mental health-related issues must be a cause for concern for all of us. PGA golfer Grayson Murray took his own life yesterday after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge, having played 16 holes of round 2. Let's give mental illness the attention it deserves; we are all potential victims.
Rest in Peace Murray.
During times of stress, we often sense our heart racing, jaw tightening or stomach churning - feelings that end up heightening our negative emotions. Soon, it becomes a vicious cycle in which your body and your thoughts magnify each other.
The good news is that you don't have to let that happen. By tapping into your body's innate ability to calm itself, often within minutes, you can improve how you feel and get better at warding off stress symptoms before they strike.
Studies suggest that accessible natural areas may be vital for mental health in our rapidly urbanizing world. For instance walking in a natural area, as opposed to those who walked in a high-traffic urban setting, showed decreased activity in a region of the brain associated with a key factor in depression @MetroHealthINT
