One year ago, Captain Smit Machchhar asked a simple question: โWhen we are up there and if something happens, whoโs going to save you?โ
He proved his own point when he managed to help prevent the hijack of his flight by his co-pilot who stabbed him.
We are forever grateful for his courage. ๐ฎ๐ณ
Everyone is talking about the men who rushed the cockpit on flydubai 1073. They earned it. But the attack was caught first by Tali Manes, who took her six-year-old to the bathroom at the front of the plane, heard fighting from the cockpit, and didn't tell herself it was nothing.
She got a flight attendant's attention, saw the blood when the door opened, and screamed. Her husband Tzvika, Yaniv Hayun and Asaf Rajuan went in only after that. Herzog thanked her by name and recommended her for the presidential medal alongside the other four.
She should be as well known as they are.
Jews really are overachievers.
Medicine? Pretty good.
Science? Not bad.
Business? We manage.
Comedy? Obviously.
Arguing with each other for 3,000 years and somehow turning it into literature? Elite.
But our most impressive achievement may be this:
For a tiny fraction of humanity, we have somehow managed to be hated by an astonishing percentage of historyโs worst people.
Pharaohs. Crusaders. Inquisitors. Nazis. Soviet tyrants. Jihadists.
At some point you have to look at the guest list and think:
You know what? Maybe being hated by these people is not the insult they think it is.
If historyโs greatest monsters keep giving you one-star reviews, you might actually be doing something right.
(Letโs see who this triggers, and exactly how spectacularly.)

In two days time itโs Simchat Torah. Itโs a very important Holy Day for the Jewish people. But this year, as with last, will be difficult, and one where we will all need to be extremely vigilant and prepared for anything.
Three years ago, on Simchat Torah, it fell on October 7, which was the darkest day in Israelโs history since our independence in 1948. Thousands of Gazans, Hamas and civilians, broke through our southern border fences and proceeded to massacre, rape, burn, behead, mutilate and butcher 1200 innocent unarmed Israelis and foreign nationals. Nearly 400 young students were slaughtered at the Nova Music Festival. Entire villages, communities, kibbutzim were wiped out. Families were shot and stabbed in their own homes in the early hours. Children and babies killed. Burned alive. Bodies burned in their cars with accelerants used so that not even ash remained.
For those who may not have ever seen it, this is that footage. 40 minutes of raw footage that will change you as it changed us. This will soon happen in your country.

Women, men, children, and even corpses were raped and tortured then killed. Children hiding in safe rooms had grenades thrown in and blown up.
252 people, including women and children and holocaust survivors were kidnapped, some killed, some were kept in captivity under brutal conditions of rape and torture for over two years. Not days. Two years.
The Palestinians cheered and celebrated it. They danced and shared sweets. Civilians were complicit in everything. This wasnโt just Hamas. Hostages kept in civilian homes. In hospitals. In schools. UN employees took part in the massacre. Reporters for the MSM took part in the massacre.
And the world watched because the terrorists filmed EVERYTHING using bodycams and GoPros and live streamed it. They wanted the world to see it. Gazans were calling family gloating about killing Jews. Allahu Akbar was shouted as they did it all.
And then hamas came out and promised to do it all again and again and again. And though some of the world were shocked and promised to stand with Israel, half the world celebrated it on western streets. In New York, London, Paris, Sydney, Dearborn, Milan, Munich, and more. The UN immediately blamed israel and warned not to retaliate. Our allies quickly started to appease the monsters that did it. The media began a campaign of lies and libels and made up stories. Influencers flooded social media to invert the reality and invent a fake history. Three years of hate worse than 1933 Germany.
This weekend marks Simchat Torah. It means to rejoice in the Torah. We have gotten closer to G-D. But this will not be hearts rejoicing. Our hearts are still hurting and broken. The hate from the world keeps the hurt bleeding. The loss is eternal.
There will be no forgiveness. No forgetting. Our world has changed. And no country on Earth will ever stop us from defending ourselves. And we wonโt hold back in how we do it.
The west is capitulating to Islam. Thatโs a choice. You may choose to surrender and hand them your cities and children and lives. We will never surrender. We choose to fight. For our people. For our country. For our children. And for our right to exist.
Sabine Taasa who survived the October 7 massacre was my guest in my office in the Dutch Parliament today. Her 17-year-old son and her husband were killed. She is a strong and wise Israeli friend.
I will always support Israel and fight Islamic terrorism. Never surrender.
Thank you, Captain Smit Machchhar from India ๐ฎ๐ณ.
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery. May you soon be back in the arms of your family, safe and well.
Thank you for your courage.

Dramatic footage from inside the plane of Israeli passengers treating the stabbed pilot medically while the other pilot who attempted to crash the plane is held down, restrained and tied up.
The passenger is saying they are there and will be looking after the pilot and keeping watch of the other. Theyโre confirming theyโre filming everything for detailed evidence and standing at the door to ensure nobody passes.
