This was Washington County near Stillwater. We got a $60 million ‘Grumpier Old Men’ we got a postcard of Mn for tourism. We got good jobs and Sophia Loren. To rebuild and compete it will take 25 million per year to attract @wbpictures again. Too many competitors offer incentives.

Sam Raimi and Bill Paxton filmed ‘A Simple Plan’ in Minnesota. It was headed to Canada when the Minnesota Film Board created the first incentive in the U.S. to bring the film here. It works. We need $25 mil Tax Credit per year to bring back this lucrative industry.

'A Serious Man' the boyhood story of Joel and Ethan Coen was almost shot in Michigan. They had a Tax Credit and tried to lure the film there. We shot in Edina, Bloomington, Taylors Falls, St. Paul and Minneapolis. Good will, jobs and cash can be ours. A Tax credit $25M works.

Happy Residents of Edina who had their homes used on ‘Jingle All The Way’. We paid them each $78,000. People smile when $80 million movies come to the State. We donated $5000 to a children’s hospital. $40,000 to Grace Church. A Tax Credit brings it back. At least 25 M per year.

On ‘Jingle All The Way’ the director chose a house in Edina to shoot Arnold Schwarzenegger’s neighborhood. We paid 2 homeowners $76,000 for 6 days of filming. Arnold posed with all 11 families for Christmas photos. His idea. A postcard of life in Minnesota.

On ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ not only did I find a trailer park in Lakeville that would allow us to blow up a trailer, I found the trailer we blew up also. @EllenBarkin and @AllisonBJanney in the trailer pre-explosion. Minnesota State Legislature must increase the film Tax Credit.

I used to get calls out of the blue “do you have any buildings that look like Harvard in Minnesota?” Why yes we do. Then I get to work with Brendan Fraser and @PatrickDempsey and Sven Nykvist. You see Northrup Auditorium was built by the same firm as Widner Library at Harvard.

Can you see Uma Thurmond? There she is filming 'Beautiful Girls' on Nicollet Island. Lots of production is looking for a place to land, They would come here if we had a TAX CREDIT. Producers will not come if we don't. It's been a long 10 years. let's change it.

Grumpier Old Men filmed for months the summer and fall of 1995. $60 million budget. You can see Jack Lemmon on the dock in a tux. The film industry is a good fit for Minnesota. We need a TAX CREDIT to get it rolling again.
