In this fascinating panel, on media and tourism, @ChukwuderaEdozi discusses the effect of a soap commercial on him as a child. And @AnulikaIwoba links the commercial to how America has perfected its public PR. And posits that the Igbo can do same for themselves and their culture.
Congratulations to me and my team on a successful third edition of @UmuofiaBookFest. Everything that could come against us tried to come in the way of this. But we have prevailed. I say a big thank you to those who supported us, and those who will help us repay our incurred debts

Fulani herdsmen are behind the attacks in Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, killing men, women, and children unprovoked. The pictures are gory.

The truly great people possess an ability to love more than the average human being. Greatness and the capacity for love are mutually inclusive. And greatness is truly not about wealth or popularity, but impact and how humane your ideas remain in the wake of your departure.

Today, someone asked me about my guilty pleasure.
It may no longer count as one, but I find quiet interest in reading the burial posters of aged elders.
In those fading papers lie some of the truest ways to uncover rare Igbo names and interesting village names.
Akụmbụ, Nneụwa, Mgbeke, Ụwamma, Onyeisi, Nnebuaku, Ọnwa, Ucheka Nwabụuru, Akwanwa (cry of a child), Ihuchi, Afọma and so many others.
Many were not called or known by these names until their death.
Ụbọchị ta mara gi mma ☀️

When I left for the United States in 1982, the entire street in Benin City knew of my plans. My extended family knew, well, they had to know, they paid for everything. On my way to the airport, I stopped by my neighbors' and received prayers and naira in abundance. Those who could, escorted me to the airport, it was a joyous, transparent occasion.
Today, poorly educated pastors have convinced us that darkness and evil roam the land. People endure illness secretly and don't tell their relatives because the pastor has identified siblings as witches and wizards. People do not acknowledge their pregnancies until the baby is born. At the conclusion of the illnesses and pregnancies the said witches are called upon to fund ceremonies and hospital visits. Why would you accept money from someone who did not want your progress?
The advent of the new Christianity, the proliferation of poorly educated pastors has reduced the IQ of Black Africa by many notches!
Black Africa needs a cultural revolution.
